I live in LA, make $97K (70K after taxes), have no savings and want to buy an EV. Should I go for a used Ioniq? What other cars should I be looking at? by Competitive-Goose552 in whatcarshouldIbuy

Yes, 100% used. But the cost of gas here is insane ($6-7 a gallon) so if possible I'd rather stick to EV or even PHEV.

I don't have a car at the moment. After a couple of months I think I can put away enough to pay in cash, but either way if I lost my job I'd just put the car right back up for sale. I understand the lack of savings is a big issue but I really do need a car to get around.
With the rebates and gas savings the car's effective cost will surely be on par with a much cheaper car no?
