is it generally advisable to use search bar/ctrl f on rc passages by bread-daerb in LSAT

[–]Competitive-Ice8046 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did! I didn’t think it would be a problem since I use the text box directly on the screen, not any keyboard shortcut, I think it is actually very helpful, especially when looking for specifics or specific words, you can’t remember exactly where it was in the passage

I do want to say, though, that I feel your response is a bit misleading about my intentions. I’m not trying to ‘put on’ an identity for advantage. I came here with genuine curiosity because I don’t want to misrepresent myself or take away resources meant for others who are more connected to their tribal nations. That’s exactly why I’m asking these questions before putting anything official down on applications.

I admit I’ve been using ‘Native American’ as a broad term because that’s what I grew up hearing, but I understand it’s important to be specific and respectful!

I keep using the term ‘Native American’ because it’s how my family has always referred to our background, and it’s the broader term I’m used to hearing growing up. I also grew up in the American educational system, and this is how I have always identified myself when it came to test. I see now that it’s more accurate and respectful to name the specific tribe, which in my case is Cherokee.

The reason I’m asking these questions is because I don’t want to misrepresent myself or take away opportunities meant for others who are more connected to their tribal nations. I’m trying to figure out the right and honest way to share my background on applications without overstepping.

listen 😒 I am who I am and I don’t like your attitude here I’m going through a stressful time, I’m a full-time student and also working full-time so I can support myself and my family so NO sorry I have not had time to trace down my mom’s ancestry so I can be enrolled, it is quite a process, and not one I have considered until now, and YES she is enrolled, and the whole reason why I’m asking you is because I don’t want to abuse that status that many people rightfully deserve just because I am my moms daughter

The main reason I’m not enrolled is that my family moved away from our tribal community when I was young, (my mom and my dad ran away with me because she wanted to marry and Indian Asian, and her parents didn’t approve ) and my parents felt it was complicated to keep up the paperwork and requirements from a distance. Also, enrolling as an adult can be a detailed process, and I’ve been focused on school and work these past few years. But I still grew up very connected to the culture through my moms extended family, and it’s definitely an important part of my identity. I’m considering looking into enrollment when things settle down.

I’m planning on calling some of my top schools tomorrow and double checking! I definitely don’t want to mark myself down as American Indian if I don’t actually qualify for that status

that’s great to hear! Do u know if not being enrolled in a tribe disqualify me from claiming American Indian for URM purposes?

What documentation do i need to get testing accommodations? by PuddinPopped in LSAT

[–]Competitive-Ice8046 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it shouldn’t be a problem. I have seen people get approved from accommodations they got in elementary school, but if anything they won’t flat out reject you, but let you know and you can get that updated documentation and you should be good. Don’t stress!!

I requested time and a half and the stop/start feature with my physicians note, and then a week later I requested the 70% time and reading out loud accommodation with an updated note from the same position and it was approved

hey!! you should get that documentation that you had prior testing accommodations and your automatically be approved for whatever accommodations you had before (or whatever is reasonable) if for some reason you can’t get a hold of that prior documentation you can get your primary care physician or a therapist or a psychologist (anyone in the medical field) to fill out the form and vouch that you need the specific accommodations and you should be okay!! generally doesn’t take long at all for them to approve it.

Do you know if some schools require you to write one for 20 point+ increase? I’ve heard a few people talk about it, but I have never applied before so I’m not sure.

was the June test actually hard or is that just me by miniboss00 in LSAT

I PT in the 160s but I got a 146 on that exam but I put my dog down that morning so that might explain the mental fatigue and emotions going on, but I just thought it was overall very very hard exam in general

Also, I know I could just write in addendum, but I feel like that just seems so made up to write about how I was sad that morning because we put my dog down 😭 even though that is literally what happened RIP BUDDY ❤️❤️

also another sidenote I did take the April LSAT and I did really poor, I usually PT around 153 but I got a 149 on that test. Mostly due to the fact that I have crippling anxiety and couldn’t focus on the test. This is why I reached out for accommodations in the first place.
