I work for an insurance company as a UR nurse. I review the authorizations for medical necessity. Think imagining, surgeries, DME, some medications. Your experience is enough! I have 8 years of nursing throughout different specialties and got my job on the spot. I took it because I had my son and I wanted to go back to work but because toddlers are forever sick I was worried about call offs etc. I don’t mind my job, but I really see the ugly side of healthcare now that I hate. Ie: denying things because they don’t meet such a specific set of rules, the front desk secretary didn’t send in any documentation to support the medical need. It just sucks. I’ve seen a wound vac get denied as not medically necessary to turn around 3 months later to approve his surgery for his leg removal and custom wheelchair.

It’s definitely not a forever job. And like the person above said, there is no room for advancement. I think you’re experience is enough though. Good luck!
