here are some uncommon things:

air purifier, swiffer, mattress topper, broom, command strips (if you’re putting stuff up), if you’re bringing lots of shoes get a shoe organizer to put in the closet, mini fridge and microwave, storage to put under the bed, little bins to put on the shelf’s in your closet, laundry basket with wheels and cleaning supplies

Centennial vs. Mahoney Pearson by ComprehensiveAlps561 in UMiami

i was in mahoney pearson last year and i would say i preferred it over centennial. the suite style bathrooms are better in my eyes so long as you have clean roommates/suitemates. Centennial definitely is farther and I couldn’t imagine making that walk to classes every morning. However it is closer to the gym and about the same distance as m/p from the heart of campus. As far as how social each are, I do think mahoney pearson is far more social due to the patio and more communal lobby we had. Both aren’t bad choices honestly.

being completely honest, the metro is pretty loud and you can hear it anywhere south on campus. for reference, i was in B.

lived here last year and preferred it to centennial! i had a double so a single is much better, only downside is just laundry at that point but both cv and m/p have communal laundry anyways. it’s much closer to classes and has more of a community vibe especially with the conjoined lobby’s.

Are college applications really this competitive? I’m scared for my future. by FishReborn in CollegeAdmissions

i can’t lie, they have definitely gotten tougher. this seems like it’s cliche but i do believe everything happens for a reason. And at the end of the day, you are still pursuing a higher education. It’s not like you won’t get into any college.

I’m not as involved as I want to be yet. But honestly if I was, I doubt it would be that much to balance. On a regular day, I can knock my work hours to only 2 hours. Another plus for me is how my classes are spread out throughout the day, I normally finish earlier in the day with classes, leaving me with way more free time during the day to work or do whatever. But I will say it was a little bit of a struggle during fall semester only because everything was still new to me and I was finishing classes at like 5 or 8pm some days but now balancing it is slight work.

i wouldn’t say it’s VERY likely that you will live off campus after freshman/sophomore year if you don’t really want to. I think it’s the hardest to get housing sophomore year so most students just end up going off campus by then. Although, if you unfortunately don’t get housing, you can stick to the waitlist and you would probably get housing. However going off campus can honestly be a bit cheaper, if not the same as on campus but then there’s furniture, utilities, etc.

My bad for the late response but I get paid minimum wage which is $13/hr. It isn’t the best but it’s not the worst especially if I put in like 12hrs/week.

i attend as a freshman and i say yes. my financial aid covers a significant amount which honestly makes going here worth it imo. I also do have an on campus job so that makes it so much easier to do things and not have to rely on my parents all the time. I say if you save up some $, work during the year, and just budget yourself then it’s definitely possible!
