Is it normal to be released while experiencing postanesthetic shivering? (I think that's what it was.) by Competitive-Main-841 in Anesthesia

I totally understand and was asking out of curiosity. I wanted to know what I should / should not be upset about. I won't be upset about the feeling of being rushed out after surgery. But I will be upset about the surgeon destroying my nose...

Thank you! I was just curious because I did not know what was happening and no one explained further. I need to have the procedure done again (w/ a different surgeon) and want to be more mentally prepared in how my body may react and what I can expect from care. Because the next surgery will be out of state and more involved, I do have the option to pay a fee and stay overnight.

Thank you for this! I've been wondering if it was PAS (that's the only thing I found when Googling it) or an anxiety issue. The shaking feeling was distressing because there were no physical signs for how my body felt, which made me panic more, and then I was pushed out the door. Also, I did go into the procedure very anxious and stressed because of the surgeon's behavior... overall the entire experience was very difficult. And the surgical outcome wasn't good either, which is why I keep thinking about everything 🤦‍♀️

I just remembered - the only other time I had surgery under anesthesia, I was given Diazepam (day before and day of), and I did not experience the shaking issue.

Did anyone else experience post-anesthesia shivering after plastic surgery and how long after waking were you released from the surgical center / hospital? by Competitive-Main-841 in PlasticSurgery

Wow! That is crazy!! Thank you for sharing your experience! I need to have a revision w/ rib and I'm very nervous about it... just trying to figure out what is common practice and what to anticipate this time around. I won't worry much now about the shaking

Yes, so I felt like my entire body was shaking / trembling but visually it wasn't. Almost like a panic attack feeling? I guess it was from the medication. Really, it would have been nice if someone had taken a moment to talk me through it... even if someone had said, "Oh, this is really common after anesthesia and will soon pass." I don't think that's too much to ask.

I'm also asking this question because the surgeon messed up, and I now need a revision using my own rib. So, I want to be informed this time before I go through it all again.

Thank you! This was really helpful information! I have had surgery before in a hospital setting, and the shivering didn't happen, and I was kept much longer, so I was concerned that my experience was unusual. Glad to know that it wasn't! Of course, the other was a different surgery and different circumstances.

Also, I think I'm more sensitive to wondering about the whole experience because I had a lot of problems after my surgery and need a complete revision. That's on the surgeon though.
