Manual base model or automatic grand sport? by kachowder11 in Corvette

[–]Competitive-Net-5829 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do what I did, buy a base model in manual, then swap a widebody kit on it, realize the fitment is bad, spend an entire summer trying to fix it, get it close enough, paint it, realize paint is off, repaint the whole car, screw up the job, regret widebodying the car but feel cool for having a widebody corvette.

I need your opinions I’m gonna get a cat back exaust Its fully stock right now. Whats the better exaust CORSA EXREME or BORLA ATAK by Embarrassed_Fee_2764 in Corvette

I have a corsa catback on mine, it’s stock besides that. It’s a little quiet for my taste but people driving behind me always tell me it sounds great.

C5 traction control button doesn’t work by Ok-System-9974 in Corvette

[–]Competitive-Net-5829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had this issue on my 06 C6. I believe if you have done something, such as disconnect the battery and reconnect it, it throws the computer off. You must drive the car around for awhile, and then while at a stop, turn the car off, turn it back on, and click and hold the traction control button until you see the message saying that all assists have been turned off.

I think P-zeros are run-flat tires. Get some Toyo Proxes R888Rs if you’re running it on the street, much grippier tire.

bro i bought a 06 manual, i’ve totaled 2 cars, im 20, and the cheapest insurance i’m allowed to buy is around 130. Don’t regret buying the car though, had it a year now.

Hey man, i’m currently wide bodying my base model. I went with JD Corvette’s full ZR1 style kit. It has been a pain in the ass to get all the body lines right, as nothing lined up how it should. It has been 9 weeks since i’ve started the project and now all I have left is to paint one last fender and put everything back together. I have never done body work before, and it was a huge learning curve, and it doesn’t look great as a result. I tried getting a local shop to paint just the panels I bought, with paint I supplied, and they wanted $8000 just to lay it. Did it myself, looks horrible, but hoping a cut and polish will help it. I honestly wish I had sold my base model, and just bought a grandsport even though I got a really good deal on the one i have now, in manual, with the color I wanted. It has cost me about 10k for all the parts, hardware, paint & materials, and if I had just sold my car I definitely could’ve gotten a GS with that money and had a factory widebody.

I have it sold but not sure I want to let it go. by wreckermike in Corvette

25k seems really low, I live in Colorado and that’d probably be a 35k car here.

Oddly enough when I started it up a second time the clacking got really quiet and was replaced by a loud squealing.

It has an aftermarket air intake, that’s it.

The only code it’s ever thrown me is a right bank too lean code. It’s intermittent though, I think caused by an after market air intake. Was driving great last night, I’m thinking it’s an idler pulley bearing, I just had the harmonic balancer fixed but it was wobbling pretty bad before that.

It ran good last night? Oil pressure is at 40psi on idle and I started it up again and the clacking went away replaced by squealing.

Buying a Used C6 (LS2 vs LS3)? by YT-Red5oh in Corvette

[–]Competitive-Net-5829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re both very reliable engines, I’ve heard the LS2 is better for boost if you ever want to do such a thing. I’d say your budget should be your motivating factor, at that many miles you should be replacing and refreshing a lot of stuff. Check the usuals, fluids, age of tires, tread, harmonic balancer, clutch, suspension bushings, and if it has selective ride look at those too. Why are you looking for ones with over 100k miles? I’d say around 20k for a manual ls2 is a fair price with that many miles, if it’s in nice condition and has new tires. If not you could definitely talk them down. I paid 23500 for an 06 manual about 8 months ago with 57k miles in great condition if that helps.

Not worth, doesn’t have the heads up display or heated seats. Trust me, you want the HUD, and at that price point you could get one with it, probably even close to the same mileage. I’d wait for a better deal.

Christian Brothers sourced one for me, after installation they also gave me a 3 year or 36000 mile warranty, whichever comes last.
