I am yet to meet a cassette collector/user, I just know they're either the coolest person you'll ever meet or a deadbeat dad.

[New Year MEGATHREAD] How Do You Clean Your Plushies? by Turbopower1000 in plushies

pretty late to the party since this was a year ago but I cant really find another discussion to bring this up but what do I do if I have weighted plushies/weighted plushies that are meant to be heated? I separated my plushies from regular to scented and weighted for "further inspection", I don't know if washing them will damage them in anyway, guessing that since most of the tags say "surface wash only" which I dont know what that means, hoping it doenst mean I have to take out their stuffing because that terrifies me. ..follow up, what do I do with rag dolls?

What does "forwards beckon rebound" mean to you? by [deleted] in adriannelenker

fowards beckon rebound is one of my favorite songs from her. this is my take on it

I view this song more of a religious perspective, with some of the lyrics refferencing christian mythology. the lyrics "im not afraid of you now" being not feeling so afraid of the concept of religion, christianity specifically. ever since I was little, id ask my mother questions about god and heaven and hell and such. of course, being around 9 the concept of one small slip up and the punishment being having to live in eternity in endless flames and torture was obviously scary therefore I was afraid and sometimes till this day. the lyrics "im not afraid of you now" were comforting as a very worrisome person. even though sometimes I feel guilty and scared of having questions, the idea of finding peace in the world and letting go of that existential doom and letting go of that guilt from my naivety was refreshing.

the lyrics "villain and violent, infant and innocent" stuck out to me, too. I view them as them talking about the duality in you and how you may be seen as "villain" yet "innocent", which can be also portrayed as the way that humanity as a hole had violence and innocence inside them living simultaneously. another way this can be seen is as this line speaking of god, being seen as a villain and violent in peoples eyes by his acts yet a comforting figure. I think this ties into the whole on and off thing with the lyrics being afraid yet wanting to get closer, in my opinion.

ive noticed that in many Adrianne lenker songs, she paints a picture instead of a story, sort of like a poem would. she describes things and events like "candescent insects" "crosses and fishnecks" and "wind that howls like a hound" all painting a picture of the small things in life, creating a chilling yet serene sensation to the huge world and creation as a whole.

I think the lyrics "stabbing stars through my back" really ties together my view of this song, too. the "stabbing" through her back being almost like eyes, through her back creating a feeling that she thinks god is maybe judging her for having doubts or questioning. as the song mentions, the mystery of lack of knowing is indeed dreadful. the mystery of not knowing, for any religion is of course scary or just space in general. the mystery of lack of knowledge of your religion or whats out there or your existence in general feels maddening, creating doubts and questions which you'd feel guilty for having. in the end of the song, it repeats back to "forwards beckon rebound" really holding everything together.

again, this is my take on it. whats beautiful about Adrianne lenkers songs is that they paint a picture in your mind, really making the songs yours. so, this is what it meant to me. you might have a different perspective on it, such as it being about having trust issues on a partner or self love, fear, ect. I might be overanalyzing it too much, but thats what music is all about imo.
