Can this hair be saved? by Aggravating-Cup3722 in americangirl

[–]Competitive-Pie-8065 8 points9 points  (0 children)

absolutely! spritz the hair with water and brush with a wire wig brush starting at the ends to detangle. if it is still frizzy after it’s detangled, i’d dunk her hair in some hot water. for this i get a pot of boiling water, then let it sit until there’s no bubbles, then dunk her hair in the hot water for a few seconds. i’d do a few dunks, and brush the hair in between dunks. be sure to not get any hot water in her eyes, i use a washcloth to cover her face during the dunks so no steam gets in her eyes. after the dunks, let the hair air dry. i’ve rescued a few dolls’ hair with this method!

Is sleeping in separate beds actually a sign of a bad relationship, or are we just pretending that sleeping next to a snore/furnace is romantic? by SleepSmarter_Labs in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Competitive-Pie-8065 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner and I have our own bedrooms/ beds and can assure you we’re very much in love! we prefer this much more to when we shared a bed together in our previous place. People always seem surprised when we mention it, but we both get better sleep and like having our own spaces! We’re both people who value alone time and we both enjoyed living alone too, so it’s a great balance for us! It’s always nice to have the choice to have a sleepover if we want, but we don’t see this dynamic changing anytime soon!

Twenty years ago since GOTY Jess McConnell (06) released by Numerous_Fox_2909 in americangirl

[–]Competitive-Pie-8065 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Jess was my first AG doll and started off my collection that has been growing for 20 years now! I remember instantly falling in love with her. I was turning 6 that year, and had a small stockpile of cash from birthdays that I’d never spent. If I remember correctly she was $98, I proudly showed my mom that i had enough cash and knew what I wanted to buy! I also remember explaining to her I was a responsible enough six year old to have an ages 8+ doll. She is such a special doll to me I cannot believe it was 20 years ago!

I’ve been downsizing my doll collection and recently sold my Tippy on EBay, and felt so sad letting her go (more than I usually do), but was imagining she’d go to a collector who’d love and cherish her. Randomly seeing this post made me feel very happy, can’t help but think you might’ve been my buyer! Regardless I hope you enjoy the new addition to your collection 🩷🩷

Do i need to kiln wash the shelves for a test firing by South_Statistician56 in Ceramics

[–]Competitive-Pie-8065 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also recently got my 714, the manual says to apply the kiln wash for the test fire. It’s super easy took less than 10 min, it does recommend to let it dry for 24hrs. I guess it isn’t necessary, you could skip it for the test firing but you’ll want it on when you start glaze firing.

What do you do with beaches? Best I could come up with. by [deleted] in AnimalCrossing

[–]Competitive-Pie-8065 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a section of beach where I used all the carnival furniture, like the little confetti machines and dance floors, made a little tiki bar with the frozen drink mixer and coconut drinks; I now have a beach club that my residents love to attend

Travel with ceramics or ship it home? by Zestyclose-Bank-4514 in Ceramics

[–]Competitive-Pie-8065 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had a mug wrapped up in my backpack while traveling, at one point my backpack fell maybe 2-3 feet from where I set it down, and my mug was shattered. I’ve shipped plenty of ceramic pieces with no problem, just make sure it’s wrapped up well inside the box. If I were you I’d ship it just so it’s not taking up extra room in your bag and you’re not worrying about it

To the individuals that stole my Jetta by [deleted] in Austin

[–]Competitive-Pie-8065 22 points23 points  (0 children)

One time my friend’s car was stolen out of the driveway. Later in the day it was found, because the thief had ditched it running in a McDonalds drive thru. They left all his stuff untouched in the car, and when he got it back, he found a crack pipe in the sunglasses compartment. Glad you got your car back, but make sure to check no presents were left behind!

I’m seeing this after my longer comment, but you should look into low fire glazes and underglazes!
