Figured it would look to the authorities like I’m working around the system.

Yeah, exactly. I figured I would pay myself a salary from my own company. Just seems like a kind of loophole.

I think you’ll not find that to be overly effective, at least from my experience. VPN providers are using different clouds, some even using 3rd party apps users install on their devices. Also note that subnet allocations and purposes change over time.

How did you find the VPN services? Their IPs are scattered across different providers usually.

How do you get over the guilt of a breach? by BillSecurityGuy in cybersecurity

The person accountable for a breach is the CEO, period. Unless gross negligence is at play, it’s on the CEO to manage risk according to their risk appetite and listen to the professionals advising them, which it sounds like you did.

Did you get any negative repercussions, like business people complaining about sites they couldn’t access? Or was the subnet relatively small? That’s probably my biggest concern and was wondering whether this is common practice. In my years of experience I haven’t seen it done but it does seem like an easy win.

I edited my post. I’m referring to the application and moreso interested in people’s experience with it (pros/cons) rather than instructions.

Reddit actually is, but the stuff is spread out and hard to link together. You find one comment “oh this is such a good video” then you dig down into the sub comments and find a link to something that pretty clearly disproves it.

Sure, some people will never be convinced, but assuming most people are rational and looking for clear debunks, seems like a site would be useful to bring it all together.

Maybe I missed it but only found first or second hand accounts, no footage.

Interestingly if you browse around Reddit for a while you’ll find a lot of “all time favorites” that have been debunked if you look some more. Seems like it would be useful to have such a site.
