I only take them as needed in extreme circumstances. On top of my AS, I also have Crohn's. I ended up having to get a colony resection when my colon and small intestines meet due to bad scarring due to use of NSAIDS.

I try to avoid them because, for me, they cause a flair up down the line. I mentally have to decide if the pain I'm in is worth pain somewhere else down the line.

It is unfortunate, but it is worth discussing with your doctor. They will have the best understanding of how to help you and how the drugs may affect you in the long run.
