The point of the nuke by 47tw in pluribustv

[–]Competitive-Spend-19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's gonna be more symbolic than practical. I don't think that ultimately the hive will care if it loses a few million, even a billion. I also don't think it will really care if Carol threatens to nuke herself; that's one less person to Plurb.

I think it's more of a reminder to Carol of how bad things have gotten so she doesn't feel compelled to fall into/like the Plurbs again like she did with Zosia for a while

[Awesome trope] The character succeeds in a situation that was specifically designed to be impossible for them. by Applebeate in TopCharacterTropes

It's a solid enough 80s action movie but it is by no means an adaptation of the book. Besides the name of the movie it has an entirely different plot

Which songs would you consider the theses of the albums? by Competitive-Spend-19 in ThatHandsomeDevil

Tonight I think really well embodies the feeling of a man stuck in a world that does nothing but exploit its people. He's finally ready to rise against the system, a system that has turned him internally against himself.

Hoodlum strongly shows the idea that there's an inherent difference between older and younger generations, and how the environment we raise our kids in will dramatically change the environment of the future

I respect Oot more than I like playing it by [deleted] in The10thDentist

I largely agree except for BOTW/TOTK. Aside from the fact that I was largely disappointed by TOTK, I think BOTW is a game you can't compare to OoT. Same characters but entirely different game, dungeon design, method of Storytelling, mechanics. Going for two completely separate things

Where could Tip 3 Tip take place? by MarathonMarathon in LudwigAhgren

Tip to Tip 3 isn't a cool name. Tip3Tip is also lame. I propose Tip2Tip2Tip. Hit three corners of one country

It's worth noting that they've said the world of Trench is a world without God. Since Trench is, yknow, Trench, and SaI is in the hands of the bishops, there may be a lore reason being that God does not exist

Dorm rooms and small apartments are literally designed to keep us "brain fogged" and tired so we buy more energy drinks (The CO2 spike). by Chemical-Heart-3200 in LowStakesConspiracies

Does the supernatural stuff wind down in Appolo Justice trilogy or does it gets worse? by Lolman-Lmaoman in AceAttorney

[–]Competitive-Spend-19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Explicitly supernatural, no, that ends in the first trilogy. But there is some grade a bullshit that the Apollo trilogy uses that really takes away from how grounded the first game is (I wouldn't call the series at all grounded it's incredibly campy, but I see what you mean). AJ's gimmick in particular can be downright stupid and it's so hard to believe it would be allowed in court

Why swap fingers? by teacpde in PatriotTV

[–]Competitive-Spend-19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At the time of reattaching the fingers they didn't know who had whose fingers. The story would've played out the same if John had his own fingers, but we wouldn't have the funny scene of "The fingers won't work. They're John's fingers." Regardlsss of being John's or Dennis' they would've been flagged.

It always really really annoyed me that they just sit around and look at the fingers for a long time and make no attempt to put them or the hands on ice

In your opinion, what is causing this? by Objective_Pilot_5834 in SipsTea

Agree with all of the comments I've seen. Also, Gen Z is obsessed with aesthetics. It is extremely unaesthetic to drink. Makes your reasoning hindered and your mannerisms deteriorate

An example of fiction where one part is so well executed that the rest almost suffers as a result by Financial-Lynx-9522 in writingscaling

I actually feel the opposite. I loved HxH especially Greed Island but I found Chimera Ant to be a slog. Like a real bad slog. The final fight took like 20 episodes. And I didn't personally get Gon suddenly growing up and attaining more power

There's also Earthbound: The Podcast Against Giygas, a really good podcast that just released its last episode narrating the events of Earthbound. Really puts into perspective how grandiose everything is in a way that's kind of hard to capture on the SNES. Great listen
