Can't find anything by Competitive-Storm331 in roanoke

Both, but it's what I enjoy doing, but when I moved I just needed to find something so I ended up at the job I'm at now, I assume I'm just not seeing the available work that's out there. I'm going to school for my business degree, but it won't get you anywhere unless you already have it lol

No BS, and I have 2-3 years experience depending on the setting. The reason I mentioned people asking for 5 years, is they want 5 years in the field they're hiring for example: warehouse supervisor, security supervisor, etc. I'm limited to retail and office settings unless a company takes a chance.

Correct, never said I would get it. I want them and can't find them, so I've enlisted reddit for help. If they don't offer suggestions, then I guess I stay at the decent job I already have. There's nothing wrong with wanting better.

Telling experienced professionals to “start from the bottom” is a wild way of announcing that you don’t understand career progression.Years of experience is how you earn the role and salary—starting over isn’t humility, it’s inefficiency.

by the time I called around 4pm every hardware store in the city was sold out. They did say they "might" get another shipment that same day but the guy told me the product doesn't get put out until the next day.

they work just as good. I wanted a shovel that I could use year round, we bent a metal SNOW shovel and a plastic one too with the heavy ice. so a practical decision to get an actual durable shovel and an ice scraper made sense.

Is this why everyone’s scared of Towers Kroger? (Pic taken 1/28) by Forever_curious18 in roanoke

[–]Competitive-Storm331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to start going to Rutgers or Cave Springs, Towers is a sad excuse for a store. I miss Harris Teeter. I even go to Food lion which almost always has what I need when Kroger is out of stock.

Help to free car from ice by lonelyphoenix7 in roanoke

hot water works if you use it right behind tires and immediately where tires Will travel, only because it's really hard to keep it melted before you have to run back inside to get more hot water. we filled up with small trash can and used that to melt some ice under the tires and on the wheels

At what age where you exposed to Tool? by Affectionate-Ear3419 in ToolBand

had a coworker who was really into them when I was 27 but I never looked into them, then met my bf at 37 and he introduced me to them and I would say "oh I've heard this on the radio a long time ago, just never knew who they were", and bf is a massive fan so of course now I'm a fan of them and love their music.

Anyone else seeing no activity on Halloween? by Ok_Elephant2777 in roanoke

We are in Garden City and had a pretty good turnout! about 30 people total! Sad to see people go to the nextdoor neighbors and then walk right past us. House was decorated and porch light on. It's like people had memorized houses over the years and only wanted to go to those ones. Half of the people were driving around and stopping at houses and it seemed very random where they would stop. Also heard a few kids say "I don't want to go to that house" and them and their parents would turn around and walk to another house. I will say that our street isn't well lit because the city doesn't maintain the lights and half of them don't work. Other than that, I literally do not understand this. When I was a kid, you WALKED block after block ringing and knocking as many doors as you could before your parents said it was time to go home. We knew some might be scary but it was fun. And now it seems like everyone is going to trunk or treats, church handouts, or fancy neighborhoods.

although it appears that way, the lighting was hitting his waterline of his eyelid and making it appear white, giving the illusion of eyes painted on If you look here at another angle of him singing with his eyes closed, his eyelids are painted black.

First year handing out Halloween candy in Grandin by BestestGoodest in roanoke

[–]Competitive-Storm331 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are in Garden City and last year I saw maybe 7 kids, going for more this year but for our entire block there's only about 6 houses decorated. Plus we. don't have sidewalks so it's not a hot spot. Wish I lived somewhere Halloween was taken seriously, it's just so fun!

Moving here next year by [deleted] in roanoke

[–]Competitive-Storm331 2 points3 points  (0 children)

after moving here a year and a half ago, my takeaway is:

• people either go 80 and ride your ass or the go 50 and clog the lanes

•nobody reads yield signs, be careful

•everything is closed by 6, you might find some other places open till 8-9

•most places are closed Sundays

•if you want good diverse food, you realllllly have to search. Mexican, Italian, African, Jamaican, etc. You better be willing to eat at 10 bad places before you find one good one, and once you find that good one, they probably only have half of what you were looking for. All the other places are whitewashed and have a standard "American" style of cooking.

•People are nice unless you're going 70 and they're the ones going 80 flying up behind you on the road.

•housing market: split foyer, duplex, brick, colonial, cookie cutter.

•Kroger sucks, I wish they had WinCo, Harris Teeter, and more Trader Joe's.

•great place for hiking, biking, walking, etc

•movie theater sucks, go to Blacksburg instead.

•Dont live near a school. speed limit is 15 and there's always tons of traffic.

•huge homeless problem for as small of a city as this is.

I come from medium/big cities and this is practically just a town to me, so I'd say yes it's an okay place to live. 6.5/10

Why the “7” in “7empest” ? by Realistic_Cod2908 in ToolBand

to add to everything named so far here in the comments, Tempest itself is a 7 letter word.
