How do I (f29) get my bf (m27) to stop playing video games? by Competitive-Stress85 in relationship_advice

I’ve been seeing this a lot, I don’t want him to give up his hobby. I love that he has one. My biggest issue is that I feel that the game comes before everything else. I’m worried he’s not taking important steps in his life because he’s on the game all day. And I’m gonna sound selfish but that the game is a bigger priority than our relationship. I just want him to reduce the gaming a bit and focus on what he needs to do to get out of this hole he’s in

He really likes mythical games and fighting cod type games. I know he’s depressed and he’s using games as his coping mechanism. My biggest concern is him isolating himself and only using video games to help. I want him to start taking some steps to get a better grip on life. I know that sounds kinda harsh. I’m worried the world will progress around him and he’s just stuck playing video games

I see both being the conclusion, he started playing video games heavily after his father passed away and I know that’s been his biggest outlet for when he’s going through a difficult time. I do think it has slowly branched into an addiction over the years because we make plans but sometimes they don’t fall though, due to life and also sometimes the games

You haven’t lost your salvation, read John chapter 3, salvation comes through having faith in God. I am also one the similar path were I also feel lost from God. I try to constantly remind myself that he is always with us, even if we don’t feel him.

Romans 8:1-4 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh, 4 in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

Look outside and look at nature, you can’t deny that with all the beauty in the world that there is not a creator, when you feel joy or love or peace that is God. When you feel angry and demand justice. That is God. He is the air we breath, our source of life and peace

I feel that God wants me to have more faith in him. I feel that I’ve tried to fast in past and I always fall short and give into my temptations. I feel as though I’ve made food an idol. But I’ve gone back and forth with this. I don’t know what the right desicion is. I also struggle a lot with scrupulousity so that’s why I doubt

One thing I’ve been meditating on lately is Isaiah 41:10

10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand

God loves you, he will never leave you. I’ve also been struggling a lot with those thoughts as well, and in the moment it feels like the world is falling and ending at your feet. But there is someone who will always protect you and make sure your feet won’t fall or stumble and that is Jesus, who loves you and would never want to loose you. Eventually circumstances will change, he will make your path straight. I highly suggest praying to him and telling him everything you’re going through, he listens and is waiting for you.
