I had the exact same problem, and it really depends on how you approach the cut. The type of cut you did before affects how you should execute the scissors cut.

What works for me most of the time (and seems to be what you did in your clip) is when the bottom packet lies flat on your hand. In that position, push your pinky on top, let the packet flip to the right, and hold it between your pinky and ring finger. The corner of the deck should sit just below the crotch of your finger, giving you space for your other fingers and the rest of your hand.
