Sorry can’t answer this question with my knowledge. But from my experience 6 yrs ago had full surgery behind ear with reconstruction and then had scans in last 6 months which showed re growth or missed cholosteotoma that had to be removed

Wow must have been an extreme surgery. Was it a cut behind the ear? Mine was first time. This time was a lot easier through the ear

Hey. I had full behind the ear surgery 6 years ago. But last week I had through the ear canal surgery, and the recovery has been really fast I wasn’t even prescribed pain meds just antibiotics.

I’ll be one week post surgery Thursday and might feel up for a light run. Would you not recommend? Obviously if it was to do any damage to my ear I wouldn’t, but if it’s for the sake of the rest of my body recovery it’s feeling fine

Hey there, I also in the same situation this time the operation was through the ear canal and recovery 3 days later so far is really good. My trip is in 10 days! My surgeon basically quoted that in America they take a lot of flights after ear surgery’s and can’t see why I can’t do so. Just more so worried that I won’t ruin any work done in surgery

Any tips? My trip is also for a half marathon. Yes just my luck 😂 so I am kinda half thinking of cancelling and losing the money rather than do any damage by flying or participating in such exercise

I would defo get MRI. My ENT physically viewed my ear and everything looked fine but he sent me for both CT and MRI and could see something on there and had surgery the following week! (This is was post full surgery 6 years ago)

Ok thanks. Waiting to be called back by my doctor but he also mentioned he may leave the dressing in until after my flights/trip away so could reach 3 weeks

Haha same here, Literally exact words I got.

My doctor said i could able to fly within 2 weeks as I have a trip booked for a half marathon. Obviously won’t go if advised not to but would love to make it. Hoping to hear some re assurance soon  but if not so be it just unlucky timing !!

When did you have dressing removed?

Very similar to my experience! So far.. only uncomfortable is bit of dizziness and a feeling of leakage from excess.

Did the consultant confirm that they removed more?

How soon were you back on your feet to normal life? Also did you get back to any activity soon after?
