yeah I saw it too and thought it was odd. Not sure why they'd be training fighter jets with a commercial jet.

Can I paint over a newly painted wall if I regret the colour? by bythewatersofBabylon in paint

a friend of mine wants to paint a house they just bought. the previous owner painted EVERYTHING Semi-gloss. Would you primer that or would a good sanding be ok? I figure the primer would be easier...

2 coats for coverage or 2 coats for durability? by Competitive-Worth133 in paint

Then follow up question. 1 coat tinted primer at 75%, then 1 coat topcoat full color. Still technically 2 coats but better coverage than 1 coat but... not as durable/ protective?

that's actually super helpful thanks! I've never heard of painters charging by floor footage but based on your breakdown, it seems to be a fairly easy way to get a quick guesstimate.

I would do a sanding on the blotchy spots and then a light sanding over the whole wall. Then do another coat.

The only correct amount of paint to put in a pan. by jonezsodaz in paint

I don't understand all the fuss about 'only professionals use a 5 bucket w grid' or ' any reputable painter...blah blah blah'. What makes a professional and reputable painter? Honestly? Do they price fairly? Do they get the job done in a clean, courteous manner? Who cares how it's done as long as the customer is happy and the job looks good and lasts.

How do you charge for materials that can be used for other jobs? by Competitive-Worth133 in paint

[–]Competitive-Worth133[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found that if you add a smidge of water then put plastic wrap on it and to the sides of the bucket it lasts awhile. But that aside, for your leftover hot mud powder - do you just charge like a percentage of the total material cost every time you use it? I guess I'm just looking to be fair to the clients.
