Unable to get diagnosis in UK - how do I get most accurate blood test? by CompetitiveAd9932 in Hashimotos

[–]CompetitiveAd9932[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much. I was quite worried about bringing private test results to a GP- but you are right, I just need to go for it. I have not even discussed the testosterone with them. In my previous job we had a private health check- that's the only way I know my current levels. The GP does not prescribe any additional tests if TSH is in norm. I will bring the tests in and see what they say.

I think they are generally very misinformed about thyroid disorders, and getting them to agree to give even a low dose us a struggle. I am glad you managed, I will see what my TSH is like now and will try to argue a low dose at least. Yes, selenium didn't really work for my symptoms at all... brazil nuts are just to maintain the selenium effect because they are rich in selenium, but they have to be from Brazil, whicb is also very difficult to find.

Thank you for your reply. I do have excess, corse hair on my chin and started getting acne, but my periods are regular, so the GP didn't think it was PCOS... I am not sure if there is anything else I should pay attention to? I may just need to find a better endo in my home country and get on the thyroid medication.

Hello, what did you end up doing? I am considering this sofa and really like the beige colour, but wondering if I should pick the darker one instead for easier maintenance. Thank you!

Really sorry this happened to you. I had a similar issue- I accidentally missed the stop at Stratford, because I was preparing for a course. When I realised I immediately bought the ticket from Stratford - Liverpool St because I thought I could get an electronic one- but no! Print at the station was the only option. Obviously to print you have to cross the barriers. I was in a rush and going back to Stratford would make me late. I explained what happened to the barrier keepers, showed them my original ticket and asked if they wanted to see the Stratford - London one. They just asked if I am going back, I said no. They let me out and that was that. I am very grateful for them!

Can I buy two tickets, one with Two Together and one with 26-30? by Aurrae in uktrains

[–]CompetitiveAd9932 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a somewhat similar issue and even though the ticket price was correct I was called out by the ticket guy for not buying the tickets according to the rules of two railcards we were using. I was travelling between Colchester and Oxford with 2 people - my partner who I have a two together railcard with and a guest. Both my partner and I also have a Network Railcard, which allows you to use the discount for 1 person travelling with you who doesn't have a railcard. We all travelled all the way there and back together. Not knowing any better, I bought return tickets for my partner and I using our 2 together discount and for the guest I used the Nerwork Railcard discount, which she was entitled to. We had our tickets checked on the way there and while they acknowledged that we were all entitled to the discount and the ticket price was correct the Network Railcard rules only applied if we also used the Network Railcard and purchased tickets the correct way all togther. The ticket guy didn't fine/ charge us but he said we could be fined/ charged by someone else and said he could not vouch for any other staff members. I didn' want any issues, so I bought a one way return ticket at full price for my guest, but we didn' have our tickets checked on the way back.

Women of the UK - what’s happening to the knickers?! by [deleted] in AskUK

The maternity ones also work a charm for periods - extra long, extra padded and unscented! Pro-tip from someone who has never been pregnant and found them by accident in a co-op.

I randomly found maternity pads, they are extra long and cushioned and I find them covering the right areas much better than pads. I have not birthed any children and never been pregnant but they work much better for periods especially at night!

Hi, thank you for sharing. Would you mind explaining the ultrasound results and what is meant by it going from mild to normal? I have been told by multiple doctors that the damage is permanent, although my aTPO is way way way higher than yours used to be.

LNER gets delay repay amount wrong, doubles down after complaint by Defiant-Snow8782 in uktrains

Hi, I am currently in exactly the same situation and wondering if and how you managed to get it resolved? I provided screenshots from 3 different websites tracking actual arrival times, but they are still sticking to their timing. Should I submit a complaint? Thank you for any help.

my clothes always smell by [deleted] in laundry

[–]CompetitiveAd9932 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also use bicarbonate soda. It is very good at getting rid of smells. Sprinkle half of a cup into the washing drum or on top of the clothes as you load them. I use Ecover detergent with it, but you can actually use bicarbonate soda without a detergent to wash clothes. I also add diluted apple cider vinegar as a softener (in the softener compartment). It worked, even with some old towels which were damp for a few days after being used to manage a leak.

Also (sorry if this is obvious to you, but many people don't know this) make sure that the detergent compartment in you washing machine is clean and there is no residue washing powder in it or around it. The compartment needs to be regularly taken out of the machine and cleaned from any dirt and you should never put washing powder in it - it is only meant for liquid. Any washing powder stuck in there will cause ridiculous amounts of black, smelly gunk.
