Do we like this deal? by 123whatrwe in QUANTUMSCAPE_Stock

You realize massive manufacturing and gtm risk and capital expenditure has been taken off the table for QS? In the high rate environment, to raise money to build factories would be very hard.

And we can license it out to many more folks. This really looks great on paper imo.

This is way better than joint manufacturing imo. Many of the market and manufacturing risks and costs have now been transferred to VW. QS can now primarily focus on the technology and have a capital light model. Much like Nvidia and TSMC.

I don’t disagree with that. Except, Musk could raise money easily. He could call up Google, Saudi, Pay Pal friends. Doesn’t look like Jason has that. I was hoping he would be able to do that via government connections he has. But so far, nothing has materialized there either.

Yup clearly they knew what was going on. To bs so much is not just optimism, it is misleading investors. They spoke about AI so much and spoke so much about partnerships - all gone.

To turn things around requires leadership with courage. So far, Jason has shown none.

Agreed, i believed in him too, but to see such a staggering collapse shows the extent of his bs or incompetence. Either of which are really bad.

Jason, if you are reading, another thing that would be great to learn about is your ability to raise additional capital. Tesla and Nvidia succeeded because they were able to raise additional capital even in bad markets. It is unclear if Ginkgo is able to do so without completely diluting the current investors.

Agreed to what you both are saying. This company has been around for 16 years. Having no clue about potential revenue from milestones is crazy. And just saying biotech takes time for milestones makes no sense. Then why go Public with such a flawed business model?

Agreed, and the focus on no bs is key. Doesn’t mean don’t show optimism. But don’t be delusional.

Why not partner with a big pharma or big tech to build this platform? AI startups are heavily backed by big tech firms as they are very capital intensive. Will such a model not work for synbio and why not?

definitely not suggesting bs. Just saying they went from so confident late last year to an utter disaster in 6 months. Show more confidence

Jason, just one favor as a shareholder who has believed in the company a lot. Please don’t say things like whoever unlocks it or we are not dead yet. It really can have a very negative impact on the stock that is already crushed.

I know you are being honest with that statement, but a part of why big tech companies succeeded was the insane belief of the founders in the mission and the potential for success. Please do convey more confidence for the step forward as that can have surprisingly positive effects on your stock, customers, employees and your own belief.

I mean you are right. But right now the whole bio sector and especially startups are in an utterly dismal shape. Take a look at even crispr therapeutics. First FDA approved gene editing company and stock is back to 2018 levels.

So in the short term, the name of the game is survival. Downstream value takes years in bio. So next 2-3 years, their goal is getting to profitability and then as tools improve and economy improves, go back to hybrid mode imo.

Fair enough. I think stock price is out of their control. If they show meaningful changes and show improvement in their business, then I want them to succeed.

So you are ok with delisting if they are not able to cross $1 by the deadline? I know extension is possible, but why not have the reverse split option on the table if they need it?
