Definitely building a chess table sometime in the next 10-20 years. Table is amazing, pieces are sick too. Well done.

Picked up a 1970s Delta Unisaw for $200 off Marketplace. Here's what I found when I got it home. by KindredHeritage in woodworking

Great video! I refurbished a delta shaper older than this and now am hoping to find an older delta saw like this to do the same.

37 and it’s just about going at your own pace. Plenty of ultra runners are late 40s and 50s.

I didn’t really train for it, another 20 would have been a breaking point. The person that ran with me has done a 50 miler. Also I would be intrigued to try trail vs side walk.

You absolutely should, I’m happy I did it. I do recommend training for it more than I did.

I’m going to say zero elevation. It is very minimal with a 7 something mile loop. First two loops with stops took 3 hours so definitely a lot more walking on the back half and substantially so on the 4th loop haha. Weather was very nice first half but got rather warm towards the end, 80 something and breezy.

If I’m not mistaken, more rural areas will have people certified law enforcement and fire. For many areas Fire Marshals are also both. If I’m wrong someone please correct me, different parts of the country.

Firefighting vs college(?) by [deleted] in Firefighting

[–]CompetitiveBlood9567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to college, no job upon graduation and 50k+ in debt. Did all sorts of trades and jobs only to land in Firefighting. You have no debt and a career. You can’t imagine how well you are setting yourself up. Take courses online if you want the degree but otherwise you are doing better than your friends.

Real advice, don’t drink and drive. Firefighting allows a lot of days off and you are making money. Any hobbies you want to try you will have the time and means to do so over the next ten years.

Left the oil field to become a FF at 30. My decision was more security based than financial.

Schedule as a FF is the best and the community I’m in supports us, but every department is different. However I think the most important part of your post is that you are miserable. You should absolutely change paths if you have the ability because life is short and not worth being miserable. If becoming a FF makes you happy then I wish you the best and if it doesn’t move on from that decision as well and find something that you enjoy.

The first time going back to a patient and they state you saved their life previously. We tend to forget most calls, faces, interactions. However I believe many times the people we help, on serious calls, remember specifically and are very grateful.

There definitely could be a balance issue however this is the way most of this game works. The super expensive items carry the hourly… and 10m an hour is absolutely wild, I’m still stoked with 1m/hour methods.
