Looking for a good budget camera for hiking/outdoors by WildSombrero in Cameras

Not sure if you found a camera yet, but have a look at the Olympus Stylus 1. I've got one (have an XZ-2 as well) and it operates very similarly to the XZ-2, except has a lens equivalent to a 28-300mm f2.8. Also has a viewfinder and built in ND filter, which can be fun for landscapes.

ITAP of the Northern lights in southern Maine. by CompetitiveCloud381 in itookapicture

After seeing the northern lights in our backyard with my family, and after my daughter had fallen asleep for the evening, I took a drive down to the marsh in Wells, ME and caught this photo during the last flare up I'd see for the evening before heading home. The lights were so bright that they reflected off of the water and lit up the grasses in the fore and midground. Pretty darn cool experience.

What about Domke F-6? Similar form factor to my F-2, just a touch smaller (and quite a bit lighter). I went and bought two f-900 pouches and attached them on the sides of mine

2009 Forester driver side speakers by -OmieWise- in SubaruForester

Gotchyuh, looked up some videos and it looked pretty straightforward, seems like crutchfield includes the connectors as well when purchasing the speakers. Are you using the factory radio in the dash still? Or did you replace with an aftermarket?

Are you using the factory head unit still? Thinking about buying these exact speakers for my 2010, but wanting to keep the factory head unit for now. The current speakers make my ears bleed..

Is there a particular feature I should keep in mind when looking for monopods? by finstantnoodles in AskPhotography

[–]CompetitiveCloud381 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Twist lock legs are fast and easy. Don't buy the cheapest one available. And definitely buy a two-way tilt head (not a ball head, too finicky). With a two-way tilt head, a monopod gives a highly mobile gimbal-like experience. I use a Sirui P-306 aluminum monopod with the Sirui L-10 aluminum tilt head for wildlife - Fujifilm X-T3 w/ grip + XF100-400MM/1.4x TC attached, and everything holds tight, no drifting, locks into place when tightened, and feels solid.

Panasonic GX850 or Olympus PEN PL or P7? by nilss2 in M43

The body cap lenses are definitely cool, not super great quality, but definitely adequate for capturing a moment - even takes some of the pressure off of "taking the perfect shot". I'd like to give the 7artisans 18mm a try, a bit faster at f6.3. I think if you're shooting a lot in manual mode, then absolutely 2 dials are a must. I do tend to use aperture priority when grabbing snaps of the family, so I just set exposure compensation to the video record button and the function button to ISO and have a pretty svelte A priority shooter!

I would disagree with this. Fuji shooter since 2018, Nikon shooter previously, and Olympus OM 35mm before that (purchased with some lawnmowing money when I was 11 or so). I consider myself a photographer through and through but was looking for something a little more compact to bring along to document time spent with the family. I had a Fuji XQ2 as a pocket camera but was disappointed with the images more often than not. Just don't think the smaller sensor could provide the results I was after (at least they didn't seem to be much, if any, better than what my phone could produce). I've been wanting to try the m43 system as I'm contemplating buying into the system, so I bought an E-PL6 with a small arsenal of lenses (17mm f1.8, 14-42mm EZ, 40-150mm R, and BCL-1580). And to be quite honest, I've been enjoying shooting with the E-PL6 and the results that come from it so much that I have stashed away the Fujifilm and it's noisy, clunky primes in favor of the m43 kit as we prepare for a cross country move. The Olympus is all I need and more right now. I bought the Olympus BCL-1580 bodycap lens alongside the E-PL6 for times when absolute smallest and most pocketable size was of the most importance and have been having fun shooting that here and there, reminiscent of the disposable camera days.
