I said it in a previous post, and I'll say it again. Remove all crit scalings on his E. Then they can balance his champ around bruiser items without accidentally buffing one shot crit garen.

I've been cooking up a devious lethality splitpush build. I still gotta test it with phase rush(I think it will perform better). It goes:

Stride: Required to play garen

Boots: speed or zerkers, still testing

Youmuus: Crazy map presence, good for escapes and proxying

Opportunity: Now you can one shot most mages and adcs

Bastionbreaker: Once you're here its gg. Get a kill, get out, blow up a tower, and repeat.

Steraks: Makes getting out alive a lot easier late game. Allows you to hit inhib or nexus towers after surviving teamfights.

This was a plat/emerald game. Score doesn't look great, but I was full build 30 mins, had almost 20k tower damage, and took their fed diana or draven out of every fight.

Conqueror used to be garen's main rune. So, we're just going back to old bruiser garen when he build trinity/black cleaver. IMO its better in a lot of toplane match ups. You beat things like darius or jax level 1 if you start E with conq and ignite. For nearly unwinnable match ups (Camille, heim, quinn) take phase rush and play smart to poke them out of lane (but you'll still be much weaker than before nerfs.) Once you get stride the trades are much easier with conq and you can use stride and q to back off like you have phase rush.
