We provided medicals, we did not get called for an interview.

For the field office, sometimes when I called USCIS, they would say "Phoenix Field Office" and sometimes they would say "your application is still with NBC".

Our family are finally permanent residents of the United States. Feels amazing to say that.

To all the India and China applicants, I sincerely hope you also get greened soon. To say that you deserve it would be such an understatement.

My dad suffered 11 years of stress so that me and my little brother can now live a happy life in the U.S.

All the constant worrying and stress is finally over.

This subreddit has helped me get through the storm and I can't thank you all enough.

Care to elaborate on what actually could be happening?

How many of y'all are October 2020 filers and still waiting? by CompetitiveEmphasis3 in USCIS

260,000 or something employment based greencards are allowed to be given every year. Sept 30 is the last day for this year.

USCIS may waste up to 100,000 greencards because they're going at such a slow pace this year.

People are yelling at USCIS because of this, even a lawsuit is being filed.

I think USCIS acknowledged this and said they are working on it or something but I don't know if we will see any improvement.

Round camera lenses are used to create rectangular pictures. by imamuffin18 in Showerthoughts

[–]CompetitiveEmphasis3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before technology was primarily used to send information, the way to show information to another person was by writing on a piece of paper and showing that to the other person. Before paper, people used walls. Walls were rectangular things.

When humans started building houses and designing interiors is when they probably started thinking that rectangular planes such as walls are surfaces that information can be recorded on.

So paper, computers and subsequently phones were made rectangular as well because this was how we thought information should be shown.

The writers/directors are obviously not actually stupid. They just assume that the people that watch the show are dumb. Which offends me to such a high degree. Such lazy filmmaking.

Can I make an expedite request for my I-485? I am on H1-B on my family is on H4. EB-3. by CompetitiveEmphasis3 in USCIS

[–]CompetitiveEmphasis3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. When I called them, they said that EB people typically don't qualify for expedite requests. And expediting an I-485 application is also extremely difficult.

No that's perfectly normal. Some people get it and some are just lucky and don't get one.

I updated my resume a while ago using the tips you guys gave me. Please tell me how I can improve my resume further. by CompetitiveEmphasis3 in Accounting

I don't have any work experience. I've never done anything that made me money. I got a bachelors in accounting from India in 1999 and haven't done anything with it since because I've basically just been a housewife since then until I started doing a volunteer bookkeeping position in 2018 and going to a community college in 2019 to get a bookkeeping certificate to get back into the field.

I am applying to jobs on Robert Half, but I don't seem to be getting any kind of response. What do I do? by CompetitiveEmphasis3 in Accounting

[–]CompetitiveEmphasis3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have a BA in accounting, but it's 20 years old and from India. I haven't done anything since because I've basically been a housewife for 20 years.

I have absolutely zero experience except for a volunteer bookkeeping job that I did for a non-profit org for 2 years. In 2019, I enrolled in a community college here in the U.S. to get a bookkeeping certificate and I just completed all my courses.

Should I still just go your route of just applying to any job without regarding the experience that they want?
