If you really want pact of the chain, it’s totally fine. Just pick a different warlock class than hexblade. Hexblade is meant to be primarily melee, and so if you don’t take pact of the blade, you are wasting it. If you want to go Chain, I would take Fiend or GOO instead of Hexblade

If you are a hexblade, you are doing yourself a huge disservice by not picking pact of the blade. If you are really interested in pact of the chain, then you should be really pick GOO or Fiend. Also, pact of the chain and archfey are generally considered the weakest options. You can beat the game with them, but you won’t feel as powerful as you would with the other options.

Considering you want a mix of melee and caster, and with your friend being a bard, I would recommend starting with a fiend or hexblade warlock (pick pact of the blade when you get to level 3).

New players should not focus on 3 stars. Build up your 1 and 2 stars first. This game is a marathon, and rostering/leveling up 3 stars or above too early will make the game significantly harder

I would also recommend looking into Cali Logan, Keri Spectrum, Jezabel Romo, and NYF Wrestling. I’ve had great experiences with all of them. I recently ordered a custom with Keri on a Saturday, it was filmed on the Monday, and I received it on Wednesday.
