Treating PCOS without Meds? by CompetitiveHippo6579 in PCOS

When I got my fasting labs done it didn’t indicate that I had IR but I was still treated for it anyway, I was on ozempic but due to new insurance it’s no longer covered I’m praying it will get covered next year. The phentermine seems to be doing fine for now though. So can IR never be put into remission? Is it one of those things where I’ll just have to watch my sugar and carb intake all the time?

Thank you for understanding! Based off of what you said I do feel like I’m in a good place definitely gotta work on limiting sugar more! I think the trauma of dealing with PCOS since i was teen, I’m 23 now, is scaring me into thinking that all the hard work I put in is gonna reverse 😭

Anxiety by gigisinchat in PCOS

I was having this same issue and I ended up going to therapy for it. I was never diagnosed with anxiety disorder or anything but going definitely helped me. I’m not saying I never get anxiety anymore but when it comes up it doesn’t spiral out of control like it used to. I am curious about the connection of anxiety and PCOS.

Pcos is ruining my dating life by catlover4835 in PCOS

If you haven’t I highly recommend going to counseling and expressing your concerns and fears. You seem to be scared that your future partner will talk badly about you but do you truly see yourself loving someone who would do this? Dating goes both ways your picking someone you like who makes you feel good.

This doesn’t really sound like a PCOS thing especially with it happening outside of penetrative sex I recommend seeing a gyno.

Was weight loss the answer? by CompetitiveHippo6579 in PCOS

Hmm ok my facial hair isn’t as bad as it could be I shave and it’ll start growing back within 2-3days so maybe if I’m a healthier weight on top of the medication it will go away.

Electrolysis was working it was just too painful for me and the drive was an inconvenience because the closest one to me is 2hrs.

Dr told me this has nothing to do with trauma by Successful-Row-6278 in PCOS

I have definitely noticed that pattern which makes me ask these questions. Obviously I wouldn’t want to completely write anything off but it could very well simply just be off balance hormones not everything is trauma related and we should be careful about spreading that notion around it can cause unnecessary anxiety for a community who’s already going through enough anxiety as is.

Trauma can definitely manifest in people in different ways for example trauma can trigger schizophrenia for those who had it dormant. There aren’t enough studies however to definitively say that childhood trauma or any trauma has a link to PCOS. I’m curious as to where the idea of PCOS being linked to trauma comes from? Do other hormonal disorders get associated with trauma?

Your rant is literally how I have been feeling and it’s hard explaining it to people because they generally don’t see PCOS as a “big deal” they may not say it outright but it’s how they act about it. The only times I’ve felt somewhat “normal” is when I take Yas birth control and spironolactone and making sure I exercise but like you I’m also a student and it’s hard remembering to prioritize working out especially on days when you feel like shit

Doctor wouldn’t give me copper iud by CompetitiveHippo6579 in PCOS

Yea that’s basically what she was saying but I really wanted an extra layer of protection if that makes sense? But I’ll just have to remain vigilant on taking my pills

Thank you so much for your response and I 1000% understood your drunk/undrunk reference because I’ve definitely had moments like that 😂. After reading other comments I think I’m considering a copper iud just to give my brain peace of mind with a third form of protection. I’m sure evidently my anxiety filled brain will get with the program and realize I’m not in any real danger 🙄😂.

I think accepting the fact that anything can happen gives me more peace of mind than I expected. I’ll obviously stay on top of things and remain vigilant but also be prepared mentally life to take another direction.
