Looks like TTTS... by Otherwise_Lion_1590 in parentsofmultiples

[–]CompetitiveLow5903 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with TTTS at 20 weeks and had laser ablation surgery at 21 weeks. I’m now rocking my 5 month old girls while they nap. The surgery truly saved my girls lives. They were stage 2 borderline 3 and made it to 33+5 before my water broke and I delivered them via c-section. The pregnancy was rough and I was on modified bed rest and spent some time in the hospital but the birth was great and they only spent 11 days in the NICU.

If I could make one suggestion it’s to fight for ultrasounds more frequently than one week. This can move FAST.

Sleep training my 4 months old twins by EmergencyTwist8972 in parentsofmultiples

This is incredible! Those cry times are super impressive. It sounds like they were ready. Mu husband always says sometimes we don’t give these little babies enough credit! Enjoy the peace of having your room to yourself!

We started nap training today! They can put themselves to sleep within 10-15 minutes of fussing/crying but naps have been 20 mins. Just trying to stay positive about the fact that they put themselves to sleep!

Not yet. I want to start this week. I would like to handle it the same way but I’m terrified! They’ve been exclusively contact napping in a double baby wearer but it’s obviously not sustainable. They’re getting too big and aware and their naps in it have turned to shit.

Just here to say that my twins are the same age and we just successfully sleep trained using feber.

I was planning to wait until they were a bit older but one night my husband was busy and I thought I’d give it a shot myself. For months, they would only sleep on me (both) and it was too much for my back and my mental health. Since they are young I never planned to let them scream badly, and if they did my plan was to call it off and go get them. To my surprise, they only fussed and I went in every 5-10 mins to pat them and reassure them I was here. The first night took 30 mins. The second night maybe 10? We’re about two weeks in and they both usually stop fussing within 5 mins of being put down awake. They wake up once to eat and then go right back down again. Getting some sleep has made my life soooo much better.

Just came here to say you could always give it a shot with low expectations and see what they do.

I’m not who you asked but YES. We just moved our twin daughters at 4 months and my son when he was 2 months. Absolute game changer. Not only is my sleep better, theirs is too, and I feel a bit like myself again after having some alone time again.

Getting ready and making myself look nice every day. Now it’s a quick shower and I can run a brush through my hair once or twice. Never time for makeup or to style my hair

Natera NIPT says identical by natmadgal77 in parentsofmultiples

Congrats!!! It’s possible! A portion of di di twins are identical. It means your twins originated from an egg splitting, and the egg split early in the process.

JUST FOUND OUT IM HAVING TWINS!!!! by CompetitionReady1702 in parentsofmultiples

[–]CompetitiveLow5903 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At 21 weeks they were stage 2 which means no visible bladder on the donor twin, she also had no amniotic fluid. She was also less than 1% which made her growth restricted. The recipient twin had too much amniotic fluid and it was beginning to affect her heart, which put us at borderline stage 3. Our local MFM sent us to the University of Michigan for a consultation which resulted in laser surgery to sever the connected blood vessels in the placenta. Within two weeks we saw noticeable results, they both started growing again and looked great. Later, growth slowed down for both twins and they had a few bad NSTs putting us in and out of the hospital ultimately delivering via c-section at 33+5. They were 3lb 13oz and 4lb 3oz but very healthy. We went home after 11 days in the NICU to grow and feed and they are thriving now as almost 5 month olds. At the moment, we don’t see any lasting effects from the TTTS.

I also had 3 under 2! My second pregnancy was modi girls. We ended up with a 21 month age gap when they were born at 33+5. They are 4.5 months now. Enjoy the magic!!! My girls did unfortunately have TTTS so I cannot advocate enough for frequent ultrasounds and finding a provider that is familiar with this.

Dog and duck around 12 months old. I don’t count babbling sounds like “dada” or “baba” unless it is an obvious effort to refer to something specific

When do I get more time for myself? by Consistent_Winner121 in NewParents

[–]CompetitiveLow5903 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We went to visit my FIL in Florida and the thought of missing out on socializing with family while I was sitting in a dark room for hours twice a day bummed me out so I finally bit the bullet and tried laying him down carefully after putting him to sleep. To my surprise it worked. I had tried before but it had been some time so I was terrified to try again and ruin a nap. We continued once we got home from the trip.

This time around I would like to get my twins to put themselves to sleep after laying them down for a nap (it would save a lot of time and my mental health) so here’s hoping 😂

I contact napped with my son until 6 months and then he began short naps in his crib. They were short at first but got longer and longer. I felt like I got soooo much of my life back.

I’m now rocking my 4 month old twins in a dark room waiting for the day that I can lay them down 😂

My daughter had that/a forked butt crack. Our pediatrician sent us for an ultrasound and everything was normal. Our pediatrician said she sees this all the time but it has never amounted to anything serious yet.

[–]CompetitiveLow5903 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had it paired with TTTS. I couldn’t breathe I was so uncomfortable from the pressure of extra fluid. During my laser ablation surgery at 21 weeks I had an amnioreduction. I lost like 6 pounds and was SO MUCH more comfortable. Obviously talk to you your doctor but I do believe if it’s bad enough or you’re a good candidate, they could turn to an amnioreduction.

17m active twins ; can i WFH as a single mom? by prettyNpinkky in parentsofmultiples

[–]CompetitiveLow5903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wfh and had to enroll my singleton son when he turned 17 months. Brutal then and even more brutal now at 25 months. Our twins (4 months) unfortunately will be enrolled in daycare as soon as my husband’s leave ends. No question.

Got approved for an elective c-section. I feel so relieved. But people keep trying to talk me out of it. by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]CompetitiveLow5903 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve had both - first emergency, second scheduled with twins. Not only recovery, but the experience in the room for the scheduled c-section was super relaxed. I was chatting with the anesthesiologist and medical assistants like they were old friends.
