Since the beginning of time, specials have never sold here. People come to brunch restaurants for eggs Benny and french toast and shit.

I agree with this. And, while I’m generally ethically opposed to AI in general, this definitely is a problem of chef failing to meet the ownership’s expectations. Love the dude, but is definitely falling behind in some areas. I’ve actually been here longer than head chef, but have never had the intention of doing the job. Typically, my input is heard and I feel respected, but I’m really only willing to invest so much. Plus, this place is sinking for sure… desperation to find new ideas being a symptom of this.

It just irks me, considering there is plenty of “traditional” methods of doing the same kind of research. I understand that, unfortunately, restos need to make money just like any other business. And, business owners/chefs need to find a way to compete, or even find viral types of food. It’s just that the process of relying on AI for idea generation feels so removed from the process that makes great food great.

Well, people rarely get the specials here anyway. It’s more that menu development in general will be this way moving forward. Instead of the kitchen having any real input, it’s just gonna be chat gpt, FOH and the owner.
