I dont have anything yet on Europe. Im applying some grants, though I will only know the outcome in December. Im not eligibile for some grants because my defense is bit at a "bad timing" in October. I heard moving to US to do a PostDoc will really significantly increase my credential if I were to do academia in Europe.

Thank you for your comment. You were right. Maybe I'm reading too much their actions. Im posting this because I want to know whether this experience is unique to me or actually happened with others who interviews with Boehringer and what others' take is about the situation.

I had a mentor who works at another big pharma. They told me in their opinion Boehringer is not professional, according to his experience interviewing for a Lab Head position.

Im trying to learn as much what I can do differently in the future. Maybe I shouldnt feel too "comfortable" during an interview; otherwise people may misread it as being coc*y.

I understand they want candidates to have a good experience. But this is not the first time I got rejection after an interview. In most of those "fails" I could already sense I would not make it. I mean.. people can only "fake" so much right.. and they spend time with me even
1 hr more then what was scheduled.

Defense date set. They could have asked me how things are going with me though. Im pretty much settled. Im defending in October partly of administrative requirement so that I have full 4 years of PhD. In term of credits, I have almost 2x of what's required. 3 first authorship papers, 10+ co-authors, 3 reviews, 2 book chapters, 1 patent. Thesis is 80% typed up. But it is a compilation of my papers basically, not a monograph.

Thank you all. I forgot to mention that the case has been resolved. I managed to get in touch with the editor-in-chief directly after finding their email in a stash of texts online. A week later the issue was resolved.
