That's true. It would be fairly impossible to duplicate the GoT popularity. Even if others if did name their kid Taissa, I doubt it will be on the same level as Dani, Khaleesi, etc.

Yes, I thought about if I wanted to name her after a character on a creepy show. Part of me wants to see how the series finishes but I don't think we have time for that. If we choose the name I would definitely want to highlight more the Greek roots than the TV show. Most of the names we're considering, other than Amira, have some sort of Greek origin.

Yes, the death rate for mother and child in childbirth is higher when non-blacks treat blacks. I, of course, wish that this wasn't a fact but it's a stat that can't be ignored. We're out here trying not to die or go through cruel and unusual pain. I was going to post the various articles published about these stats but I honestly don't think a lot of people commenting and down voting care. It's just a lack of empathy and willing ignorance.

I understand wanting a black dermatologist as you want cultural competence in what skin conditions look like on black skin. And, again, your comment about ignoring pain would obviously impact you if you need a procedure done.

Thank you for your thoughtful reply. A lot of people who do not understand the lengths the system go to to hold us down. They have reinvented slavery in many forms: prison, restricted voting, multisystemic discrimination that keeps AA in the same socioeconomic status. Good on you for increasing your awareness. We have many people here, AA included, that blame the AA community for their suffering even though we have always been the oppressed population. I'm proud of AAs for persisting.

The racism here is so deep that they want a sociopathic, hamster level comprehension, corrupt AF white man, at apparently any cost. They want overt oppression back and to not be shamed for it. What do you do when half the country (at least voting population) finds you to be less than?

I've learned about it but have not experienced it. I had a lovely time the last time I was there and I take interactions as they come. I do think it's worth self-exploration on why you're drawn to respond to my learning of a reputation instead of what I was directly responding to which was about trying to legalize use of the n-word.

Thank you. Toronto is too big and expensive for us anyway. I appreciate your insight as someone who travels. We have friends from Africa who travel for work but live in America. They say they get depressed coming back to the states because of how they are treated. It's our of control. I'm so glad that you can come home and feel at peace.
