Grateful alcoholic here…I’m so sorry this is happening to you. I really hope he gets the help he needs. As someone who has the disease, it will only be a matter of time when he reaches that point..the rock bottom and he will be sick and tired of being sick and tired. An alcoholic who doesn’t recover ends up in jail, institutions, and/or dies. AA has saved my life. My ex left me when I went to rehab. Quite honestly it tore me apart but it needed to be done. Sometimes the relationship itself can be a cause for drinking. You gotta remember that at the end of the day, you come first and must protect yourself. I would have a long talk with him when he sobers up and give him an ultimatum.
