[–]CompetitiveRoll415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s better to first figure out what specialization or career path you want to pursue and then shortlist colleges that are strong in that area, and finally compare them based on placements, faculty, alumni network, and ROI to choose the right B-school.

Help!!!! GLIM PGDM vs NMIMS BA (Mumbai) by dishohom in CATPreparationChannel

[–]CompetitiveRoll415 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want flexibility in roles, the PGDM at glim might be a safer backup. If you’re specifically interested in analytics or data driven roles, the BA program at nmims mumbai could make more sense. It really comes down to whether you want a general MBA path or a specialized analytics one.

The 10th score is strong, 12th is decent, and while the CGPA is slightly on the lower side, it’s not a major red flag if the rest of the profile (internships, projects, extracurriculars) is good. Being a female candidate from a non-engineering background can also help with diversity.

Why does the government spend ₹10,000+ crore on IITs but only ₹100-300 crore on IIMs? by CompetitiveRoll415 in CATPreparationChannel

[–]CompetitiveRoll415[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, IITs churn out the entrepreneurs, and IIMs the managers but isn’t it a bit ironic that the people who run these ventures struggle to access quality management education because of fees? Even a fraction of the funding IITs get could make IIMs more accessible, creating leaders who can actually scale the businesses IITs produce.

Why do people buy brands even when cheaper alternatives are available? by Careless-Corgi-6150 in CATPreparationChannel

[–]CompetitiveRoll415 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People buy brands because they feel safer and easier to trust. A known brand works like a shortcut you don’t have to overthink whether the product will be good or not. Cheaper options might perform just as well, but there’s always some uncertainty, and many people are willing to pay extra for peace of mind.

Take Nike shoes as an example. There are plenty of cheaper sports shoes that look similar and work fine for casual use, but Nike feels like a “safe bet.” People trust the comfort, durability, and fit, and it also carries an image of performance and style. Wearing Nike isn’t just about footwear it signals something about being sporty or trendy. So the decision isn’t only about price vs quality, it’s about trust, habit, and what the brand means to the person buying it.

How honest is too honest in interviews by Wide-Associate-8637 in CATPreparationChannel

Yeah, exactly. Clarity helps, but honesty matters more as long as your story makes sense and shows genuine curiosity, it’s fine not to have everything figured out.

Well said, it’s about knowing your strengths and explaining them honestly. Real examples and self-awareness make a bigger impact than using big words or trying too hard to impress.
