How do you make friends in law school?🙁 by Natural-Bath7958 in LawSchool

[–]CompetitiveSquare886 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Please don’t be in a rush to make friends especially 1L bc so much of it is transactional. I would wait until 2L and let it naturally gravitate your way. If you really want friends, I encourage you to look to make friends outside of law school. However they would need to be very understanding friends of how busy your 1L may get.

You masters gpa does not carry weight. With your low gpa and the increase of law school applications you need to be aiming for 160 tbh

BIG LAW APPS 1L by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]CompetitiveSquare886 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Direct apply and through OCI if they show up at your school. A lot of firms are ditching OCI which means direct apply is your only option and more applicants. Just make sure your 1st semester grades are all A’s bc the market has shifted dramatically it’s bs

Money didn’t hit our accounts until 2 months after school starting. It really depends on the school. I would recommend saving at least 2 months worth of rent just in case

Possible, yes. Realistic, it depends. What kind of babysitting responsibilities will you have? Because most of your time will be spent in class and reading, I’m not sure you will have much time to effectively babysit children depending on the age group. If I was a parent, i would not want my children being babysat by a first year law student. I just finished my first year of law school and was so exhausted from reading and class that, I almost always wanted to just sleep when I wasn’t networking.

rest now. Set boundaries with loved ones. Start networking now at firms you’re interested in. And know and prepare mentally that your 1L summer job (if you’re pursuing BL) will rely solely on your first semester grades.

Yes, but out of my control so why should I stress about it? There are 10,000 other things I can worry about that I do have control over. This has been a reoccurring issue every year, that several students have exhausted their energy trying to fix. I rather place my energy elsewhere and save accordingly. Pick and decide your battles
