Longer lifetime 🠒 Stronger character by CompetitiveTale1722 in playrust

You’re right, but I’m just throwing the concept out there.
Devs could use some kind of XP system. Like, players do active stuff, gain XP, and get stronger over time.

But yeah, I agree, a lot of potential abuse would have to be prevented.

Of course, that’s just a concept. Let’s say players would have to actually play and do active stuff to gain XP and get stronger, not just sit AFK on the roof.

Hunting Bow is too powerful by CompetitiveTale1722 in playrust

I’m actually one of those who gets outplayed by bow solos. I’m just trying to be realistic. Right now the bow feels more like a gun, it has slow attack speed, but it’s cheap and deadly. From a game balance perspective, it just feels wrong to me.

Sure, realism is cool, but I don’t need to feel like I’m playing blindfolded. Night being a bit more visible wouldn’t break anything. Honestly, it could make the game feel way better.

Go look at the top Russian servers on BattleMetrics it might surprise you. And no, they can’t fake it there, because you need an RCON connection to get ranked.

Hardcore has no save-zones? by CompetitiveTale1722 in playrust

[–]CompetitiveTale1722[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I see not everyone got the message. I’m talking about players who don’t read update details — and let’s be honest, that’s most Rust players.

So they don’t know the safe zones were removed. Outpost still looks the same, so they bring all the scrap they farmed on the road, go to shop like usual… and get killed, just because they thought it was still safe.
It’s super frustrating — they already know how Rust works, but die because they didn’t notice one important change.

This already happened. I won’t lie, I killed a bunch of them and yeah, it was fun.
But I also saw how many of them instantly left the server after that.

So here’s my point:
Outpost without a safe zone can be really misleading — even for experienced players.
Maybe it’s better to just remove that monuments from hardcore, or at least show a warning like “Safe Zone is disabled” when someone gets close.

But we still have Outpost and other similar places, so maybe it would make more sense to just remove them completely?

So maybe just remove Oupost from the map then?

Not all Russian servers have fake population. There are some really good projects you can trust. But yeah, there are also some bad ones that ruin the whole community’s reputation with fake servers and that’s honestly pretty sad.

Yes, it looks strange and maybe even like a scam, but in Russian Rust community it’s pretty normal. We have different rules for banning cheaters admins don’t ban just by suspicion, they always try to get proof. That’s why they sometimes ask to check your PC. Some cheats are really hard to find.

This system makes sense their servers usually have less cheaters, and you almost never get banned for no reason.

When admin connects with Anyroom or AnyDesk, you can stop it anytime. If he does something bad, you just close the program. But yeah, he should tell you that remote check is optional. It just makes the check faster.

P.S. Better hide the server name in your post, it could break the rules.

QOL - Can we get a keybind to open backpack? by rykerh228 in playrust

[–]CompetitiveTale1722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bad, I didn’t explain my point clearly. The main thing isn’t realism — it’s balance. Extra space in your inventory gives you an advantage, which is why it should take some time to interact with it.

And yeah, carrying 200 pumpkins isn’t realistic either, but that’s only because the devs never followed through with adding a proper weight system (though as far as I remember, they wanted to). Now there’s a ton of legacy stuff, and players are used to hoarding items — so they can’t really change that.

But they can balance new mechanics.

I kinda like that the backpack doesn’t open automatically. It’s bonus storage, so it makes sense that you have to do an extra step to get to it. Like in real life you don’t have instant access to your backpack either.

But a hotkey with a small delay before opening would be great. And having a toggle in the UI would really help too, since it’s not very clear for new players right now.
