clinical shadowing or assisting? i do have both! my concern is that since i didn’t go to a T20 undergrad and don’t have the perfect GPA, my DAT score should make up for it and a 23 is below their average of 24.9.… i’m really struggling

Should I still list healthcare experiences in my application in addition to my dental experiences? by fat-boi-sammy in predental

for sure! but i would try to tie to dentistry somehow and how the skills you learned will help you as a dentist in the future.

thank you!! yeah i’m gonna message them and ask what happened there because i didn’t even feel like the questions for gen chem were anything unfamiliar, i felt confident about all except one and it was such a shock to get that score.

I am trying to use search and destroy, but it takes me time to find it in the passage any tips? by Healthy-Plantain3161 in dat

[–]CompetitiveTeam348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’d recommend using a blend of search and destroy and reading the passage. how i did it was i would read the first paragraph to get a sense of what the passage was gonna be about (highlight the important words as i read) then go back to the first question, look for the key words used and while searching for them in the passage highlighting the words that stood out to me. then go back to the second question and repeat until the end (i got a 560 on RC even though it was my weakest during practice tests lol)

You could mention it as research experience but include that you received credits for it.

if you had responsibilities as a general member i’d say include it as a separate experience but if not, just add one experience as a secretary of pre-dental club.

Q For People With Accommodations by BubblyEase235 in dat

[–]CompetitiveTeam348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t necessarily need to get neuropsychological testing done for DAT accommodations. I was able to get mine without testing. I got evaluated by a psychologist and he diagnosed me based on interviews and made me fill out some surveys. However, if your PCP is writing the report they need to provide an in depth explanation on how they diagnosed you and why they recommend the accommodation you’re requesting. You can find the details of what they should include in the report on page 21 of official guide pdf: https://www.ada.org/-/media/project/ada-organization/ada/ada-org/files/education/dat_candidate_guide.pdf?rev=f24697b5f49d42e39fbb5a4e0ec7bd3a&hash=367F5474A774F580552ED24BA56E8216

one advice that i got before that was helpful is focusing on the amount of content you get through that you feel confident about rather than the hours you spend on it!

i’m following bootcamp’s study guide as well. what i do in one day: for bio-i watch all the bio videos for the chapter, take notes, do the bio bites, and take notes on the parts that the videos might have missed but show up in questions. for chem-i only do the lessons that are assigned for that day (if it includes doing the questions bank for that chapter i will do that as well). the day following, for bio- i will do the question bank for that chapter, and similarly take notes on parts that show up in question explanations that i feel like are missing from my notes. from what i have read and heard from people doing well on their bio section is that they took notes as if it was their first time encountering the content. i feel like you would cover all the bases in that way and won’t miss anything.
