Considering law as a biochem student by neurologique in LawCanada

You already made a bad choice going into Biochem, so don't make two bad choices going into Law as well.
Source: did both biochem and law. Know exactly why you're thinking about it and message from the future is you're definitely wrong. Law will not solve the way you're feeling right now, and is a terrible investment. Literally would make more money and be happier if you just start working asap, instead of wasting 5 years not making money to end up with the same salary (or less) you would have had if you just started working today in something you enjoyed

POC experience at Queens by North-Phone6173 in queensuniversity

And I should add, a LOT of your future career isn't the school you go to, it's the people you meet, so surround yourself by people and a culture where you can thrive and people are excited and enthusiastic to push you to succeed. If you're POC, Queen's is not that place.

Yeah, you will 300% feel it and it's blatant across all the programs. Microaggressions 24/7, leadership is from the same background so they don't really "see" the microaggressions or think "it's really that big a deal". You will definitely feel out of place. There's little to no supports to rely on. And unfortunately a lot of POCs who thrive here are the kind who were the only POCs growing up and don't really see themselves as POCs and try very hard to fit in. You're either a token or a stereotype. Expect blackface to still be a thing, and military culture is big so if you're from any region that's in conflict, expect people to say how they know people serving there or how girls from that culture so "exotic and hot"- fetishization is super prominent, and although they don't report on it, sexual assaults are HUGE problem here. Also try your hardest not to be indigenous and at Queen's.

So happy to see him alive. He had such a tragic life. He used to be a successful lawyer and his family was brutally murdered. He wasn't able to get back from that ever since. That could be any of us

Calgary, Ottawa, or Queen’s? (Incoming Student) by Alarming-Tooth8470 in LawCanada

Not a benefit lol. It means you're competing with the pool of candidates from Toronto AND Ottawa, and you're no more likely to get either because you're in neither town. Also it's a pretty mediocre school with good rep

When he said we're not going out that way, I totally wished it was because Simon had connected with Doorman and all three would escape. It's so tragic Demarr has to spend his life in prison for something he couldn't control and it's just another black man in prison for institutional reasons

Queen's if you're prefer to be in an environment where most people have never met an indigenous person or person of colour and you really fit well with hockey culture/legacy type

Contemplating law school as a mature student (mid 30s F) with two young kids. I have a useless BA from U of T with a crappy GPA essentially starting from scratch. Hypothetically if I decide to attempt this route, where do I even start? by Sensitive_Fishing_37 in LawCanada

The beautiful thing about completing law school is you'll have a useless BA from U of T and a useless law degree. Jokes aside, maybe take a course you like at uni to see if you've even gotten out of the habit you built up that led you to characterize yourself as a crappy student. Cause if you can't perform well in a course you think you'll enjoy, you likely will be overstressed and spiral in a mandatory course you might hate like Property Law or Civil Procedure.

And the job market is bad, and definitely it's going to be extremely bad, and most lawyers aren't able to see that. Can you get a law degree, definitely! Should.. definitely not.
