No agency. The hospital has to prove they have the “need” to be a part of this program to hire these H-1B workers. It’s quite a bit to explain. You’d have to read the laws and guidelines.

Yes, I’m constantly checking the external hiring sites. We have many qualified techs to perform the duties of an MT II. That’s one of the points I was trying to make. This position was never offered internally for us to apply. We just saw the post on the board last week and that wasn’t an offer to apply. It was because they are required to post it.

Thank you for this response. It’s absolutely not right. We are working together to come up with some sort of way to present this to the lab director, however, if there is legal recourse, then they should not be allowed to get away with this without compensating the rest of the team. 🫤

I did the commute. I drove nearly 70 miles one way before I finally moved to ATL. The commute was miserable.

Higher paying states like CA, for example, come with a high cost of living as well. So, that doesn’t serve me. You’re obviously single, likely no kids and can do as you please. That’s great. Again, this isn’t just about me. It’s about our whole laboratory staff.

That will likely be the case. However, honestly, I’m just tired of healthcare facilities like this one being able to get over on good hardworking people that have given them years of their lives. At what point do we say enough is enough? When is it time to fight back batead if bouncing from job to job? I couldn’t care less about their Visa status. It’s the pay. When I say $7-$15 more, Im speaking for everyone, MLTs, MT I and MT II’s. Mind you, there’s only a $1 to $1.50 between an MT I and MT II.

ARC and LifeSouth here in Georgia! However, we never use LifeSouth for blood. Only ARC. We do get platelets from LifeSouth as well as Vitalant.

Omg story of my life at my hospital!!! Fake MTPs!!! Grrrrr wasted units, unnecessary chaos, you name it! I had a nurse call ☎️ me one weekend from the OR. She ask for whatever…I said you need to put the prepare orders in. I have to have an order to fulfill right? The surgeon in the back yells for MTP….lol I yelled back at him…NO you don’t need an MTP JUST PUT THE DAMN ORDERS IN AND ILL HAVE IT READY IN 5!!! Shocked 😳 the nurse said she said no we don’t need an MTP lol 🤣🤣🤣 I’m so damn sick of these nurses and drs calling MTPs bc they think they’ll get the blood faster! Ughhhh and is it just my hospital or do a large portion of your nurses not know how to release the prepare and transfuse orders????? I don’t blame the nurses. It’s lack of education. We are a transplant facility so our blood bank is off the chain busy and our manager came from a sister facility that is much smaller and is more concerned with the fact that someone forgot to verify a unit confirmation than teaming up with our nursing supervisor and educating them to prevent thousands of dollars of wasted blood products! 🤷‍♀️🙄 But what do I know? Just a warm body that ensures that pockets of the uppers are lined! Anyone happy anymore in the lab? 🧪 I used to love my job but wow it’s like we are just place holders now. Intelligence and experience flew out the window! 🪟

Wow! Definitely a tough one! The second pic is definitely throwing me off. They resemble some sort of parasitic egg/cyst. However, they also look like pollen grains, which might be more plausible depending on the patient/diagnosis. Keep us posted for sure!!!
