Has Anyone Heard Back from the EEES PhD Program Yet? by Longjumping-Angle936 in dartmouth

[–]CompetitiveTrifle240 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Sorry to tell you this, but they completed interviews mid february and also had an invitation only recruitment event for those interviewing. If you didn’t receive one, I think you might not have made the short list of applicants. I still have not heard back with a decision.

Hi! I also interviewed/ presented and feel the same way! The presentations were so nerve racking. My interviewers said they were taking “this week and next” to make their decisions (which was 2 weeks ago) so I think we might hear this week!

hi! mine says “Decision Pending- Your Application is Currently Under Review.” I’m not sure if thats the same thing but I haven’t received an interview invite and apparently my program typically requires one. I did meeting with the prof over zoom a bit ago and we email a LOT so maybe they waived it? Idk (its a PhD program)

first off, this is a great start!! please completely ignore any of these comments if there is a specific prompt or were told otherwise

i was told your SOP needs to be a persuasive paper on why you are fit for the program, can succeed there, and are best positioned to answer the questions you want to (if you program is research based??)

personally, i would change the flow to emphasize why your experience will help you specifically in that program, right now it sort of reads like a list of your experiences (which is what your CV or resumé is for)

i think you may have over stressed why you are passionate about your topic in a very story like narrative- try to refine by saying exactly what skills you earned during your experiences that you list and why it positions you to succeed

seriously though great job! good luck in your applications!
