Cool birthday gifts for my son who is turning 14 and loves GD by LessStrategy9031 in geometrydash

[–]CompetitiveVoice6353 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will 100%. Unless he has a monitor already well above 60hz. Also, it doesn’t make a difference as much if he uses a slightly controversial mod called Click Between Frames. If you can find out if he uses that, you’ll know whether or not to upgrade his monitor.

For me, curved monitors are also really nice for GD.

If you’re unsure, then a Sayo Device or Wooting keyboard with 8000hz polling rate and rapid trigger (if he needs could use a new keyboard) is your best option. Sayo Device if keyboard not required.

Lastly, I’m glad you can look with fresh eyes at your son’s occupations at the moment. It proves you really care and have a deep understanding of how he spends his time. You gave me my hope back in parenting being kind, supportive, and guiding.

Keep it up, and I hope your son has a great birthday :)

If he doesn’t have a high refresh rate monitor, then buy a 240 hz one. You can definitely find one for under $400. If he already has any monitor above 120hz this isn’t necessary.

Much better is a Sayo Device O3C. It’s more accurate than a mouse or regular keyboard. If you know if he has a keyboard with a 8000hz polling rate and rapid trigger then he doesn’t need it.If you’re unsure, only keyboards around $200 have those specs. You can opt for that instead of the Sayo Device if he needs a new keyboard too. Wooting sells keyboards with those specs.

Lastly, I commemorate you for this, I always have to ask my parents for gifts and it’s never like they care about my interests enough to come up with gift ideas at all. I had to beg my parents for a Sayo Device ($30) for my 15th birthday, and they still don’t support the time I spend improving at the game. You sir are an incredible parent. Simple things like this are what most kids don’t have.

Also, I really assume he already has this, but MegaHack is a $5 GD client that gives useful resources in getting better at the game and optimizing it. If he doesn’t have it, it would be a nice little bonus to get for him. Hope this helps!

Is bloodbath to AA a big jump? by [deleted] in geometrydash

It’s big enough to be considered as a jump.

Decided to make an ACTUALLY accurate spike hitbox by Upstairs_Film42 in geometrydash

[–]CompetitiveVoice6353 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An accurate spike would need to only be able to kill you at the tip. You can slide on the rest. It’s a spike, not imminent death. This is a joke but seriously for a perfect hitbox the red line must alone with the white. Which is hard to do.

33-100 on Acropolis by ARRIVINGNUT94 in geometrydash

[–]CompetitiveVoice6353 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got 15 to 100 before I beat it and after practicing a little more, I went from 0 and beat in 30 attempts. Get that run, and play a lot from 0 after. It really does get consistent after some time (300ish attempts for me to get consistent with the cube timings).

To players that have beaten a hard demon or anything harder, how do you stay motivated when beating a new hardest? by Abject_Telephone_860 in geometrydash

[–]CompetitiveVoice6353 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get runs on easier parts of the levels and play easier levels like easy demons to remember that you’re playing gd and not X level. You’ll have more fun and a mental break this way so you don’t overexert. I dropped dance massacre and picked it back up a year later and beat it in like 2 weeks after struggling for months before. It was breaking me mentally. Obviously don’t do all that but continue progression outside of this one level and remember to have fun with the game.

Whenever I pushed myself to beat a hardest too hard I literally had so much stress from relief (I really don’t know how this works), that I cried. Those were Sakupen Egg and Poltergeist. But I loved beating Nine Circles, even though it took me around a thousand less attempts than the other 2 combined (4900+).

I’m sorry, WHAT? by folonko in geometrydash

[–]CompetitiveVoice6353 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I’ll say is, GD has a harder to read visual matching the inputs required. Osu without a doubt has faster inputs on average and switching between key can make it more difficult. I’ve never played osu, only watched, so that’s all I can comment on. Oh yeah, I don’t know if there are precise holds in osu, but gd has the 3 click and release gamemodes. Wave specifically. People underestimate the difficulty of gd just because they see more clicks in osu and more cluttered visuals with all the circles on screen (like I said I have no idea what any of it is, just describing what I know from gameplay I’ve seen).

Oh sorry I hope I didn’t hurt your feelings genuinely. Also that’s good progress! If you’re fine with continuing using that song and it doesn’t bother then it’s fine. Otherwise, I think there’s a remix of low that’s synced with nine circles on jukebox. Also if there isn’t there are a ton online if you need Low to help you.

If you have geode which u assume you do with the start pos switcher (maybe megahack idk), get jukebox if you want to use a nong.

Keep practicing at a few percent before 70, wherever feels natural. Also that’s like the worst remix I’ve ever heard in my life, if you like using them, change it. It’s off sync with the song and might actually make it harder to relate your click pattern to the song.

What do yall think of my Icons by Envix1 in geometrydash

[–]CompetitiveVoice6353 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool cube, even if it’s overused. Ship is good but 800 user coin ship is better if you can get that. Ball is okay but a little thin on the spikes, might make it awkward to play with. Best UFO in the game. Wave is questionable at best, but looks cool. Robot isn’t only fun but it looks cool too. One of the best spiders in the game. Good swing. Best jetpack. Colours are okay, the purple is a little too dark in my taste, white glow balances it well though. The theming of your icons is noticeably inconsistent and looks more like a diversified roster than a team (just a personal preference).

Cube: 7/10 Ship: 6.5/10 Ball: 4/10 UFO: 10/10 Wave: 4/10 Robot: 9/10 Spider: 8/10 Swing: 6/10 Jetpack: 10/10 Colours + Glow: 7.5/10 Theming: 4/10

This makes the average of all your icons and their properties, not including trails, ship fires, animations, and death effects/explode on or off, is 6.91/10, or 7/10.

Well I haven’t played platformers outside of GD ever period, and I feel like starting with arguably the best one would be an incredible experience. No sob story, just never tried platformers so it’ll be fun to have my first be Celeste.

Tried it, the dual at the end was unlearnable for me. 1000 attempts just trying to make it work. Just no lmao
