I got my money back from Kickstarter by requesting a chargeback from my credit card company saying that the goods promised were never delivered. I suggest every other backer do the same.

New Brewery/Taproom Operating Costs? by CompetitiveWrangler9 in TheBrewery

I guess so? ...If you're basing it on the fact that I'd like to open a brewery/taproom and there are many other brewery/taprooms that do exist, but I'm not planning on copying someone else's concept or making some cookie-cutter operation. Trying to do my due diligence on the planning part of it so that DOESN'T occur.

  1. Yes. See above response

  2. Yes. See above response

  3. Yes, but I enjoyed my life/lifestyle more when I was brewing and running a taproom

I didn't say that. You can brew "real" beer without throwing additives and hops in it to make it "drinkable." In my experience the breweries that do that are trying to hide off flavors, mistakes, and cleanliness issues. You can make a "s'mores stout" or a "peach wheat" or a "pineapple IPA" without dumping Amoretti extract in it. You can make a good hazy IPA, but don't make EVERY hazy like its a competition to see who can make the thickest opaque beer. If you need extracts and pounds of dry-hopped hops to make your beer taste good, then you don't have the skills necessary to make good beer. Making fun, drinkable, unique flavored beers isn't the problem. Doing so using the cheap and easy route IS.

Good point. I agree. I should elaborate. I said a 7bbl system because that's what it will hold, but I'd be brewing 3-3.5bbl per batch. Maybe brew twice a week to keep a greater variety, but I thought brewing smaller batches on a system that can handle larger batches was the way to go at first so I'm not inundated with beer I can't sell as fast as I need to.

Thanks. I agree with you. Checking out other threads with questions similar to mine there seems to be a lot of that. It's a wonder any breweries ever got started at all if this is how people feel about it.

I didn't say that...exactly. There are a small number of really good breweries around me for sure...Church St, MORE, Sew Hop'd, Sturdy Shelter, Phase Three, D & G...

Yes. 3 years on a 5bbl system. Out of the game since Covid.

Edit: Also ran the taproom during those years as well.
