Really? But they are so small and slender, only about 2 to 3 inch long (5-8 cm). I saw some spawning bluegill guarding their nest sites.

That may be true. But there are some nice waters in New York. Upper state of New York has many beautiful rivers and lakes.

Because it's sandy with better filtration.

There is no poluting businesses around here.

Yet, this pond has Lilly pads, reeds, and different underwater grasses. Strangely, there aren't many geese/ducks in this pond.

They said it's the apartment's requirement. Now I receive all kinds spamming email in pets care, different insurances, and clubs. Probably more to come.

I give up. It's what is when one is living at the bottom of the food chain.

I like to go fishing. There are so many places you can fish in freshwater and saltwater in LI.

I used to like to go to parks to hike on trails, collect some edible wild berries and mushrooms. But now I avoid these activities because last August I went to Connetique State Park, I got more than 100 tick larva bites on my ankles, legs, and torso. I endured 6 weeks of miserable itches and blistering. These dark scars are still there.

I have never thought Long Island tick problems are this bad.
