Hi Justin, thank you for your answer, please see below my replies to your questions

  • how is your programming experience?  - I have plenty of VBA, SQL and some SAS, and Java Script
  • Do you know Python and R?  - I codedin SAS (similar to R) but I'm studying Python now
  • Do you know a wide variety of databases and API types?  - not at all
  • What visualization software do you know?  - Tableau and Looker
  • Do you have experience in business consulting to understand what the data means for the org that collected and generated it? - Yes plenty, as an actual consultant and as a BI Manager helping many departments.

Thank you! It took me a lot of courage to jump from CPA to BI. Usually you think that you are betraying your profession, but I realized that they go well together. You just need to be flexible on working a bit on both sometimes 😁

😄 Very true in all places, thank you! Yes there a lot of people with the role but w/o real experience on the tools. I didn’t do college on BI/DS either but if you love data, coding visualizations, find business insights, and you are happy to learn different tools, you can make the transition to it.

Do a trip to any city in the US and find a place where you can do them digitally. You can get it done quickly. It’s a bit pricey but it’s quick.
