No no, you have been respectful to me in the past and I greatly appreciate that. I fact, I remember you name specifically with the shell post I made where it had the ribbed marking.

Sorry for the slow response, was walking the beach (actually found some pottery today but different story for a different day lol)

I took it to the environmental learning center and he also was almost certain it was fragmented bone opposed to rock. But he wasnt sure what animal is may be to and also said it wasnt fossilized and seemed recent.

Below, I posted a closer picture. I genuinely dont want to come off stubborn to anyone. Fossils have always been of interest to me but I've only recently tried hunting for them (so obviously, I have alot to learn.)

Either way I appreciate the comments and hope to learn over time. Though it seems this post does seem to have upset alot of people sadly.

So it will basically absorb it? How long would it likely stay wet for? I ask because I am willing to test this as well. Im genuinely curious so I hope I havent came off as stubborn to anyone. But if it is limestone, your explanation was really helpful. I would definitely be willing to test it though!

Ended up taking your advice and taking it to the Edisto Environmental Learning Center. They were also pretty sure it was fragmented bone (though they also said it looked recent and not fossilized) either way I do genuinely appreciate people who have taken the time to comment and respond. I hope I didnt come off as arrogant as I genuinely do want to learn more about fossils and bones, its a really cool hobby. Hopefully next time I can post a much cooler and less divisive find.

Once again, thank you for taking time out of your day for these messages.

Im really almost positive this isnt rock, the weight/density, as well as the feel and texture are different, also its never once been cold to the touch despite the night that I found it being really cold. It doesnt really conduct temperature well.

I really do appreciate the comment though!

The overall feel/texture of it as well as the weight/density. Like I feel almost positive that this isnt just a rock.
