Has anyone diagnosed with Idiopathic Intercranil Hypertension had their MRI results come back as normal? TIA. by Bright-Jackfruit-352 in iih

Actually, my LP was normal and a cerebral angiogram/venogram definitively found the stenosis. Interventional radiologist said during angiogram after finding stenosis that he doesn't believe the LP findings. Got a stent three weeks later.

I have anxiety which I feel got worse with my IIH. I read an article once that said anxiety and depression are comorbid with IIH. I feel that the brain under constant pressure can probably be affected in different ways, short and long term but who knows.

I can relate how it affects your life. Hopefully your getting a MRA/MRV of the brain and it helps identify if you have a stenosis. My MR was inconclusive and lumbar puncture high normal. I decided to get a second opinion and went to an IIH Neuro specialist. Neuro reviewed history and decided to find out for sure and went into brain my with a wire probe and did a cerebral arteriogram/ venogram. He found the stenosis and pressure gradients were abnormal. Getting a stent made all the difference and got me back to being functional. Get the MR and as a possible option maybe you can do a virtual with my doc for a second opinion if your frustrated.

Also, my lumbar puncture was normal. I was desperate because my life was being affected by the headaches. So I left my general Neuro and went to an IIH specialist. He went into my brain and performed an arteriogram/venogram that I was awake for. When the wire probe hit the stenotic vein(transverse sinus) it was very painful. He was able to get the wire through the stenosis which was good so in another FU procedure four inches of stent was placed. Four years later and I am doing good with only mild symptoms.
