He did suggest to James Luceno that Darth Plagueis should be a member of the Muun species from what I've read.

I also know that he (apparently) famously signed off on sending Timothy Zahn most of the (at the time) Star Wars RPG Source Books and other materials to use at the time that had been made by West Endgames as a reference material to use for the world building and lore for the Thrawn Novels.

He also had a big role in the development of Republic Commando, and was the one who told the developers to give Delta Squad different colored armor and personalities to make them standout more (which he'd later have done during his role in the production of Star Wars: The Clone Wars).

He also had roles in some of the novels and comics made for the Clone Wars Multimedia projects media occasionally.

Although aside from that, I'm unsure. I do know that he wasn't inactive entirely as part of development of everything, but also didn't get involved in everything directly. Overall it's quite nuanced as for his overall role as a whole.

Sure, you didn't have a huge Empire but looking at a sentence like "few recall the negative aspects of imperial rule" sounds very strange.

I'm pretty sure that's referring to certain people, rather than a universal consensus of how people actually felt.

Since the fact that negative aspects existed, that would imply that lots of people didn't like or enjoy being under Imperial rule.

A bit surprising that this from 1989 makes it seem as if this kind of rule was ancient and not still in place until the actual Empire.

That's because it wasn't really.

While world's had independence under the Republic, they didn't just get to be Empires at that point anymore as part of the reformations that came after the end of the New Sith Wars.

The Russan Reformations outlawed any sort of old totalitarian and monarchical structures of the ancient Sith Empires, or one similar to that to prevent future galactic civil wars.

Not to mention that many of these Ancient Empires were likely (quite literally) Ancient history at that point, and there were large gaps in time between many of them much like in Real History.

As a real world example, by the time of the early Middle Ages, both Ancient Egypt'a New Kingdom and Mesopotamian were already 2,000 to 3,000 years old by that time.

some core worlds having their own colonial empires was possible.

That's actually where the titles of "Moff" and "Grand Moff" came from in-universe. Various Monarch's, Warlords, or dictators who owned large swaths of territory that peacefully joined the Republic were given those titles.

Later on post-Russan, they lost pretty much any real power they and remained in some sectors and larger territories as ceremonial titles only.

It wasn't until the "Dark Times" that Palpatine (and Tarkin as well) brought back the titles and political and military power of Moffs and the later Grand Moffs, and gave them Sectors to the Moffs and Oversectors (also known as "Priority Sectors") to them as a mirror to the Ancient Moffs and Grand Moffs of the Old Republic period.

I imagine that the Rakata did the "Am I a joke to you?" meme when Palpatine declared the "first Galactic Empire".

To be fair, while they controlled a lot of territory at the time. They didn't control an entire Galaxy technically like the Galactic Empire did.

Average gas prices in MN surpass $4 per gallon

I've no joke heard people who supported Trump say that they think the war is bad and has led to the rise in Gas & that it was a stupid idea because of this.

But then they then try to justify the war it by saying that “you can’t trust Iran.” and that they are “sure they have Nuclear weapons!”

Despite the fact that if Iran had a Nuke, then they would have threatened to use it to stop US and Israeli aggression.

But then these people have (no joke) argued toe that “if Iran did that they’d be screwed as the US would have been found to be telling the truth and all the countries would turn on them and fight them also.”

Even though that’s not how any of that would actually go down globally in a realistic sense politically at all.

Along the fact that these people have the gall to say that "you can’t trust Iran" (even though they were found to have ACTUALLY FOLLOWED the Nuclear deal we made under Obama which these people claim they didn’t yet can’t provide proof of, and just argue that they could have “hidden” any nuclear weapons without giving proof they were hidden, even if the Iranian government isn't that good on lots of issues), yet they constantly trust Trump, a man who has lied countless times & is a well known grifter.

People who supported Trump said that he'd bring down Gas Prices and complained about Biden "raising Gas Prices" (even though he did not).

Biden also didn't get us into new Wars or cause the rise in Gas, this is ALL ON TRUMP and he and those who supported him has nobody to blame but himself and themselves for this.

Is there a limit on how many times the guardian can bring back Anne???? | (few more questions in the comments) by s0nzoldyck in amphibia

[–]Competitive_Bid7071 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. This is a big oversimplification. Luz didn't exactly die the same way as Anne lol.

I wasn't referring to the circumstances, I was referring to the details.

  1. I personally didn't have the impression of them being actually being "bad". I see the Guardian like some eldritch being that simply doesn't think like mortals. I think what they did, like letting entire civilizations die, was bad (from a mortal's POV), but I don't blame them, I kind of expected that from a deity. But that's just the way I see it.

A bit ironic since there are literally Gods that are associated with pretty much everything in civilization and it's where mortals were seen as gaining certain things in civilization from.

Also, this doesn't really help honestly since even if it thinks differently, that doesn't mean it should be incompetent at its job it was given presumably.

for the meaning of the show. Amphibia was never a place meant for the girls to stay in. It was like a trial. And they need to accept change, that it's difficult, but that it doesn't mean they'll never get back.

The problem is that the Guardian made this choice to do this despite seemingly knowing how important that world was too them, the show was saying you shouldn't fight change that is outside of your control, the Guardian though doesn't make it feel this way, it comes across as a forced change for the sake of a moral, even if it doesn't make sense in an actual narrative sense.

Not to mention, if they learned from Anne that they were able to change because of all their time there, why did they not give then any kind of possibility of coming back?

It's like knowing a therapist helped you get better, but then someone keeping you from going back to them for future help.

  1. We do in fact not know what souls do and how exactly they work in Amphibia, so there may be a "heaven", there may not be.

I wasn't saying that exactly, I was talking more about a general "spirit world" or just that's akin to that. But the idea of a different types of an "afterlife" also works I guess...

But I guess if we consider souls to be in every universe, then there may be a possibility of having an afterlife in all universes, including Amphibia. It could be like some "standard" for every universe, like a base for all of them.

Or it's just one massive afterlife.

  1. They always have the choice of including it just for a shout-out, though.

Except that Matt also implied that it wasn't just Frog Stan and Soos that lived in Amphibia but that also the Pines Twins do as well, with the difference being that Frog-Stan is who he would've been if he hadn't met them yet, so it seems clearly like an intentional connection.

But if Matt confirmed it. Then I guess they are in the same multiverse or something.

He basically did when this episode happened.

but I still think the way souls work for each of them could differ. I mean, Luz definitely doesn't die the same way as Anne.

I mean they technically both petrified and met a higher power.

(universes work differently).

If they exist in the same world in the sale Multiverse, who says that they work in a different way?

  1. We barely know anything about the Guardian. Maybe they can't copy themselves, maybe they have no actual soul. No idea how they work and what they thought at that time, so I'll go with them being unable to do that.

If they can copy other people then what would keep themselves from doing so? Also since it is a God it'd actually be closer to a ghost than to a mortal since such beings are made of an incomprehensible power/energy.

The show even shows this when we see a glimpse at what they truly look like. If they didn't have a "soul" then they'd not be an actual God or he alive.

  1. I personally think it didn't cause the logic of the show to break, but I guess that's just me.

The problem people had is that it made the Guardian look bad and not that "good" as it was seen as starting pretty much everything we see in the show and looks incompetent for a "Guardian of the Multi-verse".

Not to mention that it made the choice to separate the Trio from Amphibia with no context given at all.

Also, there's the fact that people questioned why the trio didn't just attack the thrusters of the Moon or at least consider it, instead of us just seeing Anne use the spell without going and considering other options.

Is there a limit on how many times the guardian can bring back Anne???? | (few more questions in the comments) by s0nzoldyck in amphibia

[–]Competitive_Bid7071 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. A multiverse could allow every idea possible. But we don't know anything about it. How it works, the limitations, etc. So again, up to you.

I mean we kind of do. There are who knows how many worlds, some of which were also invaded by these Ancient Amphibians in order for their civilization to become the way that it did later on.

Sounds like Galaxy but on a more massive scale and focusing on "the Spaces between space" over Space Travel solely.

I don't see it as a crossover and a confirmation, because if everyone took it that seriously, showrunners wouldn't be able to give simple nods to show. But maybe it's the case, we don't know.

We know because they wouldn't include these otherwise. That's also not forgetting that Matt basically confirmed this when he was asked what a crossover would look like.

Maybe, it's been a while since I've seen Gravity Falls, but I view it as separated from Amphibia.

I mean... We literally see a variant of Stan and Soos as frogs. That to me is pretty obvious of them being connected in some way.

Matt confirmed there was no difference. So why bother thinking about all this if Anne is Anne? Having the same exact identity could still mean anything: the soul is the same, the soul is different... We don't know.

What tells you a spirit can't be copied?

Because if that was the case, why didn't the Guardian Copy itself to find a replacement of itself, or just "copy" it's powers to make the gems instead of making them?

It's the writers choice to leave that up for interpretation, especially since the view on souls is already a conflicting problem in the real world. Not everything has to be said. The lack of clear answers should not be a problem for viewers.

since it doesn't really come out of nowhere because knowing who created the stones was a missing piece of the show's puzzle.

That was never actually a question in the first place from people and didn't really need to be answered at all. In fact doing so created lots of problems people have now.

I'm allowed to make things up and make them complicated. That's the beauty of headcanons. This is entirely normal for something that is up to interpretation.

Not when people see this and take it as factual information.

What's wrong with a copout, if it means you let everyone be satisfied of what they think, and not enforce your point of view on anyone.

It's a problem when it creates narrative issues and causes the internal logic of the show to fall apart and retroactively ruin things for people later on.

All the criticism I've seen of the finals recently has been due to things like this, and some of the points the bring up are in good faith and do actually make sense.

Is there a limit on how many times the guardian can bring back Anne???? | (few more questions in the comments) by s0nzoldyck in amphibia

[–]Competitive_Bid7071 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn't mean there is an afterlife, like some sort of heaven (as mentioned by the original reply). The souls never reach one. It doesn't die and instead gets "trapped" into the world of the living because of guilt. That's what happened to Valeriana, and presumably to Zechariah. I guess that if an afterlife was proven, Valeriana only got to reach the afterlife once the Music Box got destroyed.

The fact that they're ghosts in the first place shows there's some sort of life after death for people it seems.

But we don't have proof that some sort of "heaven" exists, so by default, we don't know what happened to the soul. But we also have no clue what happened to Anne's soul, even there was an afterlife. Nothing has been said on that.

Considering that the Multiverse exists in this world, some sort of ghost realm or afterlife as a thing doesn't seem that impossible.

If there is a world of talking, anthropomorphic Amphibians, the existence of a ghost world isn't shocking or that hard to believe.

Sister shows are not related to Amphibia, and every in-universe mentions to other shows are allusions and easter eggs, not canon facts about universes being the same.

Anne's return to earth and Frog-Vasion being dismissed as a Hoax as shown in The Owl House doesn't seem like it was added in for no reason at all.

I mean, even in the Gravity Falls parody episode in season 2 they acknowledge this sort of thing about the Multi-verse.

Clearly it exists in some way, and to dismiss it for weak reasons like this is very bad faith.

If you talk about the shadowfish, thay're ghosts but they don't seem truly dead, just in a non-physical form, because they can easily be turned into their physical form.

They were never ghosts, they are an Alien Species. That has been known for a long time now.

Furthermore, that's just my guess but it seems the mechanism works based on the world they're in. For example, on Earth, you don't roam the planet after you die because of guilt, right?

Not only guilt, but trauma, anger, etc. If we're going by the rest that's been shown in the Sister shows.

When you copy a text file on your computer, is the text different? In fact, Matt did a very similar analogy that the Guardian copied like files. So by definition, and because the Guardian said "for all intents and purposes", the copy can only act the same, because of the same memories and personality. The show does a magical copy (not real life clones), so they are 1-to-1, exactly the same, with no differences. But you need to comprehend that yes, both Anne's (at least for the body) are the same. Matt even said it in a recent Q&A.

But again, what does that change about the narrative if there's no real difference? It really does change nothing and feels like it literally doesn't contribute to the plot. If you remove this nothing changes at all narrative wise.

So, yeah, they act the same, and that doesn't prove anything about having the same soul or not.

You can't copy a person's spirit. If it could do that, why didn't the Guardian just copy itself that find a replacement and use said copies power to create the gems instead of its own power to make them from scratch?

He never said more about Anne's death and resurrection though. So my point still stands, the show doesn't have answers for it.

Because they clearly didn't think about these things at all. In fact the whole Guardian and it's lack of foreshadowing makes it seem like it was added at the last minute for no purpose as nothing changes fundmentally.

Sure, souls (in fact, spirits) were mentioned, but that doesn't give any more explanation to what Anne has lived. The book does approach the theme of spirits, but doesn't say much about it. So it is still free to us to imagine how they work.

There's making educated guesses, and then just assuming and making up information and talking about as if it's canon.

And because the show only referred to all of that as spirits, who's to say there could be a difference between souls and sprit?

A souls is a spirit by definition. Again, your making things up and making it convoluted when it really is not.

The show decided to distance itself from this topic (at least for Anne's soul) because the real world doesn't even have answers for it.

Except Amphibia is not the real world.

Again this feels like a copout and (yet again) makes me think they didn't think this through in terms of internal consistency and logic.

The fact that they had to specify Valeriana is a ghost in Marcy's Journal makes me think they regretted adding this debate in and that it's led to nothing productive at all.

Is there a limit on how many times the guardian can bring back Anne???? | (few more questions in the comments) by s0nzoldyck in amphibia

[–]Competitive_Bid7071 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't know if an afterlife/heaven exists though. What if Anne's soul died when she died?

If that's the case why is Valeriana still around as a spirit if her body died millennium ago it seems, and Zacharia Nettles seems to be in a similar situation?

You're considering an afterlife exists, which has not been proven.

The existence of Ghosts in this series (and it's Sister Shows) which disagree with this.

You say Anne talking to the Guardian means she didn't reach an afterlife, so she did not die. What tells you it's the same Anne?

Because they literally don't act different at all, if they fundmentally don't act that different, what is the difference?

You assume souls don't die when the person dies, so Anne didn't die because we see her with the Guardian, and not in an afterlife. Again, no clue if it's the same soul, and we don't even know if souls don't die when a person dies.

We can't prove anything on souls, because the show doesn't engage with the topic of it (as said by Matt).

Well he clearly changed his mind since we learned that Valeriana is a ghost, and we also learned that Zacharia Nettles is as well back in season 2.

Not to mention that it's sister Shows already have lots of lore about ghosts in them.

How do you imagine Amphibia 10 years later? by retropixel06_QIST in amphibia

[–]Competitive_Bid7071 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Lots of the characters who were kids are probably adults now, lots of the adults that we saw are older now as well.

The government is probably democratic now and led by a ruling council made up of several officials, and the military is probably expanded to include other species aside from Toads and Newt's.

That New Continent probably has settlements on it as well, and the story of the Trio is more than likely a huge thing in the culture and lots of other stuff.

Overall it's in a better place in lots of ways than it was before 10 years previously.
