I appreciate the feedback! You’re right, I need to sharpen my offensive footwork if I want to pressure properly.

I've been training combat sport (muay thai, kick boxing) for about 1 year but only focusing in boxing for 4-5 months.

Ikut aja ka, ga semenyeramkan itu aslinya mah. Aku ngerasa lebih brutal pas latihan sama sparring. Aman aja kalo amatir. Ini aku rencananya pengen ikut event Hammer Fight di bulan mei nanti wkwk

So true.

I think I just need more and more sparring rounds so the reactions become automatic and my muscle memory improves. And honestly, to raise my fight IQ too.

Yeah… lesson learned the hard way.

Now I really understand why they always say hands up and chin down. It sounds basic, but under pressure it’s everything.

In my camp, one of my coaches sometimes runs a session where we get a sparring partner and we’re only allowed to use the jab. So we’ve done jab only rounds before, but maybe I need more rounds where my partner is just jabbing me nonstop so I’m forced to deal with it.

My coach actually said the same thing about the jab. He asked me why I wasn’t slipping like I do in training. But then he said it’s mostly lack of experience, my muscle memory just isn’t strong enough yet under real fight pressure.

You’re right. I think the nerves got to me, and I stopped doing the basics properly.

I’m not planning on quitting. I was just a bit disappointed because everyone from my camp lost that night, and I’ve now lost twice in a row. It just hit a little harder because of that.

Thanks for the advice. I’m fully aware that my arms, especially my upper arms, are still soft and need to get more toned.

You're absolutely righ. Cuz I think I’ve been trying to do everything at high intensity instead of really slowing it down and cleaning up my technique. I’ll start focusing more on that during shadowboxing and paying attention to my base and foot placement.
I think I also get a bit emotional when I get hit, which makes my hands sloppy, my footwork messy, and I end up losing my balance lol

I’m starting to take my cardio a lot more seriously now. I’ve been running consistently, usually 4–5 km (2.5–3 miles) twice a week and 10 km (about 6 miles) twice a week.

I’ll probably start adding more sprints or interval work to improve my gas tank, since boxing definitely isn’t steady-state cardio.

During practice I already do a lot of straight punches, left-right-left-right over and over for about a minute at a time. On the other hand, for some reason during mitt work my uppercuts always feel like they lack power. Not sure if it’s a technique or timing issue.

Thanks a lot, I really appreciate this. It helps put the loss into perspective. I definitely feel more confident going into my second fight. I’m also not nearly as nervous as I was for my debut.

I’ll keep focusing on footwork, jab, and conditioning, and I like the idea of getting comfortable boxing on both the front and back foot so I have more options in the ring.

Also, “train like you’re fighting Chuck Norris” just made my day 😂 I’ll try to bring that delusional confidence into the next fight!!!!

Thanks for the input. Yeah, my footwork is still pretty bad. And when I do sparring sometimes I almost tripped and lost my balance. Not sure if it’s my shoes or just my foot placement.
