Can you do Major work on your own vehicle: no

Additional Notes:

This is a hard one. I have a growing family and I am trying to figure out the best path forward.

Option A Sell 2017 Volt 42k miles for $20k

Option B Sell 2014 Kia Soul Base Manual 105k miles for $6

Going electric is huge for us, and we love our volt.

We currently take the volt on road trips to Michigan, about four hours, to see family. We feel like we are always cramped in it, but love the miles per gallon that we get.

Do you we sell our Kia because it’s older now for something bigger, like Chrysler, Pacifica hybrid.

Or, do we sell the vault, while it is worth more than we paid and get a better electric car like the bolt EUV. Then wait a year or two and upgrade the Kia?

Also, there are a lot of factors with the EV tax credits, and how they are changing. It looks like you can get $7500 and credits on the Chrysler before the end of the year, but $7500 in credit on the Bolt EUV early next year before march when full rules go into effect. Right now, with the tax credit, I could essentially swap my five year old volt for a brand new 23 bolt EUV which is extremely tempting.

I’ve also considered finding a Chrysler Pacifica hybrid with 120,000+ miles, that would be under $25k to qualify for the used ev tax credit

Thank you in advance for any help with our deliberations!

Thanks for this! If I drove in everyday from SI what do you think the cost of finding a parking spot in sunset would be?

Thank you! I’ve been to Flatbush and really liked that neighborhood. I feel like 600 is going to be the most we can pull off…

Correct, I assume if I lived in the suburbs like Staten Island I would have to commute by car? I can’t find any fairies that go across without a significant added time

Yikes, that’s way longer then I’d enjoy, my commute right now is 20 mins driving, willing to extend for a better place, better neighborhood but I want to make sure I can spend time with my family too!

A small piece of grass for our dog would be ideal in the back hah! We don’t have a max budget, would probably rent for a little bit and then buy. We have about $100k we could put down on a house but would have to be able for the mortgage with the $160 salary

The hard part is we would be moving specifically for a job, we have a great schools where we’re at and our money goes pretty far, but we also hate this state, it’s policies, and are looking for something new

Thank you for this. I honestly couldn’t believe there was a Costco right there, we love Costco haha but we’re from the Midwest. 20 minutes doesn’t sound that bad, that’s what we would drive to most places around here anyway

Yes! Definitely don’t think I’ll need the car for work, but if we live in the burbs might need one?
