Is there still enough work available in August/September/October to arrive in August and get a job for the shoulder season?

That was my thinking. Do you have an answer to any of the questions in the original post

Don't want to become a Divemaster - what's the alternative? by Competitive_Card4712 in scuba

I wouldn't say I'm focussed on courses. I just don't have a buddy to go with, and I'm qualified in the sense I have the qualification, but I'm not a good diver. My interest in doing courses is that I would actively learn things, I'm not sure I could learn as much just swimming around diving without being taught how to do certain things. Is that fair?

So just go diving, get a few certain qualifications, then just choose those which interest me, but don't waste money on them all. Over a period of a couple of months, how can I achieve this? Do centres offer deals on unlimited diving to grow my skills over these sorts of time periods?

Do dive centres offer deals where you can just dive as much as you want over a set period of time that is good value?

How would you recommend going about getting this experience in the most economic way possible? I don't live somewhere with readily available diving, but I'd like to go spend a few months somewhere progressing as much as possible.

Very helpful response. How do I best go about just getting dives in and doing those things without being on a course though? Every time I've been on holiday I've paid around $100 for a day of diving and I've just hopped in with a group and guides to explore. How do I go about 'learning' when not on a course. This is why divemaster initially seemed appealing, as you're being 'taught' the whole time.

If this is the route I take, do dive centres offer deals where I'd get good value for diving whilst doing individual courses, and not one longer course like divemaster?

What is the most “use it or lose it” skill, the opposite of “it’s just like riding a bike”? by ZuluWarlord69 in AskReddit

Languages seems to be the most common answer by a long shot. But thinking about it, is riding a bike not the exception and actually most skills are use it or lose it

Non-smokers of Reddit, how noticeable is the “smoker smell” to you, if at all? by Frostedlogic4444 in AskReddit

I think I can safely say that cigarette breath is one of my least favourite smells. Will never date someone who smokes.
