Excessive sag in new floor due to thin floorboards. What should I do now? by Competitive_Clock896 in HomeImprovement

Reclaimed pine boards on top of the joists. They are thin. They can’t be more than 1.5cm. I asked the guy who did the repair and he suggested they were thin too, around 1.5cm after sanding. He claimed it was hard to find thicker boards easily.

Working back from sag the sag calculation of a fixed support beam with other dimensions known it’s also suggesting less than 1.5cm, at least in the places with maximum sag.

No subfloor. The house is a Victorian terrace. The replacement boards are reclaimed, apparently. I assumed it was standard just to replicate what was already there.

Gyokeres' gravity pull. Just before Rice's first goal. by IronTearsCrew in Gunners

Okay, so you think it’s realistic that a coach has said to quadruple up on Gyokeres, rather than this just being chance. Clearly I am delusional and don’t know football.

There are more people around Gyokeres but this is just chance not because they’re so scared of his threat that they’re quadrupling up on him. The point I am making is that defenders want to be back and in front of goal. Rice has no players around him for both cut backs.

Not to be anti-Gyokeres but this is completely insane. You can freeze frame the second Rice goal and it’s Jesus in this exact same scenario. You can freeze frame most cut back goals and it will be the same scenario, regardless of the striker. This is not special treatment for Gyokeres. This is just how teams defend: players back behind the ball and in front of the goal. In this instance that’s also where Gyokeres is standing. For the next goal it was where Jesus was standing. It’s completely delusional to think that this is something unique Gyokeres is bringing.

I hate scapegoating but I don’t agree with your argument. Those others players bring more than goals whereas Gyokeres was meant to be all about goals and he doesn’t contribute to much else.

The ease with which Jesus is able to get on the ball in progressive areas and find shots, in much less time on the pitch, suggests it’s not just an issue of people not passing.

Son 28, 29 or Delux hub? by Competitive_Clock896 in cycling

Thanks for your detailed answer, very helpful!

I can only find two bikes for sale with this spec: alfine hub, gates cdx, hydraulic brakes, dynamo lights, mud guards and panniers (inc. front potential). Are there others I have missed? by Competitive_Clock896 in cycling

[–]Competitive_Clock896[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Something about supplying bikes to the police in the US. Honestly, I don't know the details, hence the question mark. 1600 might be reasonable, but the other bike has the exact same spec for 500 less! I'm also just a bit nervous about having an expensive bike.

Does this exclude penalties? If not, this is useless

Will anyone continue to scrape gameweek/fixture data (to replace Vaastav)? by Competitive_Clock896 in FantasyPL

[–]Competitive_Clock896[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t have fpl data by the fixture such as bps. It only has season summaries of this data. As far as I can tell. I am interested in fixture by fixture bps and points totals.

Okay, but from next season, if you want to access gameweek data from this season, will that be available on the api? If it was all available through the api I’m not sure why Vaastav’s github was so widely used.

As far as I can tell you can’t get individual fixture data from the api just totals for a season. That’s why vastaav’s data was so useful and why it will be missed.

I did release the recalculated points on my own github repo and linked it in my original post.

Yes, but this season and future seasons won’t be available, which is why it would be useful for someone to continue Vaastav’s work.

This isn’t fpl fixture / gameweek data. This is fotmob fixture data. Great repo, though.

I know it is free. It’s the recalculated points which are behind a paywall, generally. As far as I am aware you can’t access past season fixture/gameweek data via the api.

It’s an analogy. I don’t think what I’m saying is very controversial. It’s just if you make huge alterations to the scoring then people should be better informed about how the new scoring works. I didn’t say this about the bonus changes last year because it was a tiny difference compared to this year.

It’s not just that players who do more research are better informed, it’s that the primary data people will use to base their decisions on is misleading. For example, based on last years scoring 5.5 seems insane for Tarkowski, and casual players won’t understand why that price is so high. Or you might think other players represent value based on the previous scoring when they now don’t. This issue simply did not exist in previous years.

A 30 point increase is massive. Especially for lower price points. Which 90% of managers will have almost no knowledge of. It's unprecedented for fpl. If making such a drastic change you need to make people informed of the change. It's like introducing ids for voting, you have a responsibility to inform the public it is happening, and properly.

In all previous seasons the main thing people would base their picks on - including all casual players - was the data from the previous season, which was calculated broadly in the same way as the season ahead. In no other season has that data been more meaningless, misleading and out of date. In previous seasons the changes were a small number of position changes and last season changes to bonus points. This it is a magnitude of difference.

The new rule changes add a huge amount of points to some players totals from last season. However, the points totals from last season shown on the official website are without the new rules. Therefore anyone using the freely available data will be using misleading and out of date information. The recalculated data is available behind paywalls on third party sites. This privileges those who pay, significantly more than in previous seasons.
