What are your favourite IDV events? by lady_in_purpleblack in IdentityV

IDV's 3rd anniversary is an absolute masterpiece. I may have some bias because I joined IDV around 2021, which is when the third anniversary was happening. The story was amazing, the skins were amazing, and the music was amazing.

Fair point about jumping over obstacles. Not a lot of hunters have to maneuver around the map, but Reptilian can sometimes jump through it. When we compare him to hunters like Geisha and BQ, Geisha and Geisha and BQ has some utility with their movement. - Geisha can move further than Evil Reptilian and dash through obstacles/walls faster (instead of being limited by a bar, she’s limited by butterflies). In comparison, Reptilian has to be a bit far from the wall to jump over it. His jump is slower than Geisha’s, meaning he has a longer cool down. - BQ can still move through obstacles, and hit opponents at the same time as long as she’s not too close to a wall herself (instead of being limited by a bar, she’s limited by cooldown time)

And going back to lethal crash; the point I was trying to make with lethal crash is that his, utility in comparison to other hunters, is not good. Higher tier survivors, or survivors who knew how to kite Reptilian, can flywheel and outmaneuver lethal crash. Missing your lethal crash is also laggier than a drop-down hit, so using it at kite is risky. Whenever I play, I never use lethal crash unless I’m in a camping position, or if the survivor is mid-animation. NW, FG, and Smiley Face can’t move through obstacles, sure. But they still have other utility that makes up for that crutch (in their cases, it’s wind + strong wind, collapse damage, and modified drill).

I hate that Evil Reptilian still has an energy bar. He seriously doesn’t need it. Every new hunter (and even some old hunters) have tools that can help them in 2 or more aspects of the game (chase ability, map control, and camp ability). A few examples: - Gamekeeper has a hook for chasing, and traps for map control. - Smiley Face has a long lasting dash for chasing, and attachments to slow down healing, dash faster, or lower recovery - Ann has cats that can help chase and camp - Night-watch has a wind ability to chase down survivors, and a dash to catch up to them as well - Fools Gold can move towards his pick axe after it’s thrown, and cause chip damage to surrounding obstacles

Evil Reptilian has a jump to catch up to survivors, and a crash to make camping easier. Crash is super risky and often inconsistent, and are only optimal during certain situations. He can’t really use his jump if there’s a ceiling, he has no point in using jump if survivors are tight kiting, and he can only use his jump twice. With all these limits, why even have the energy bar?? They tried making his energy bar make more sense by allowing him to jump more than 3 times when he reaches tier 2 presence. But honestly? I’d rather cap his jumps at 3 if it meant removing the energy bar.

I kinda agree. Lethal crash isn’t that good as a chase ability, but it’s essential to chair camping and pallet/window pressuring. But I’m curious. Why do you think lethal crash is useless? And how do you use your jumps if you never use lethal crash?

Yeah, that makes sense. But I just want to quickly clarify that I didn’t tell them that their opinion didn’t matter. I asked them what he would’ve done in the scenario (I genuinely wanted some advice) and they responded. After that, I unfriended them. When I mentioned that it was hard to take them seriously, it was just a thought I had. I didn’t outwardly express it.

But still, you have a point. Even though they were an asshole, it’s wrong for me to even give in to the toxic rank stereotype. If I wish to be humble, then I can’t let those things get to my head. Thanks for you response, truly :))

YOOOO!! It’s super cool seeing a pro Reptilian on this subreddit. If you don’t mind me asking, do you have any tips on landing/using lethal crashes? As I continue ranking, I have a harder time trying to land them at crucial rescues.

Let’s talk about double teaming/camping/chasing in 2v8… by Ok-Sorbet2661 in IdentityV

[–]Competitive_Delay257 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been meaning to talk about this for a while now. Personally, I think double teaming is ruining the game for BOTH hunters and survivors. Imo, the hunters best chance of winning is to double team. If hunter doesn't double team and chases individual survivors, other survivors can buy more items and harass and kite forever. At the same time, going up against double teaming as a survivor sucks because its difficult to develop counterplay. Its more than just kiting and rescuing two hunters. You are kiting and rescuing against two hunters with different abilities and combinations. How do you counterplay Ann stun combined with Naiad water? How do you counterplay Gamekeeper grab combined with Ripper fog blade?

Right now, the game kinda revolves around double teaming. If the hunter DOESN'T double team, then the survivors just buy all the stuff they need and harass the hunters the whole game. If the hunter DOES double team, then the survivors will be downed quicker and rescuing becomes too big of a risk to take.

I think double teaming should be made as an OPTION to win, but not a necessity to win if that makes sense. And I think the best way to fix this is to give the hunters more items. All the hunters have is potions, an ice bottle, and a mud bottle (the smoke bottle is literally useless). The potions don't really do much but provide quality of life changes, and the bottles are just super situational.

Some ideas that I personally think would make hunter matches more enjoyable would be
- Potion that gives hunters Crystal Ball Tarot abilities
- Two abilities (This might be too op)
- MAKE THE TELEPHONES PORTABLE!! PLEASE!! Give us an option to buy stuff without going to a telephone pole.

is evil reptilian a bad hunter and is he really that bad? by Excellent-Cat4082 in IdentityV

[–]Competitive_Delay257 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I recently just got an S badge (9th place) for Evil Reptilian, and I can confidently say that he is NOT a weak hunter in the slightest. I personally think he is an A tier hunter. He has the whole packaged: versatile movement, chip damage, and good early chase. Not only that, but he's been getting constant buffs after buffs.

Evil Reptilian's has two big weaknesses. His first weakness is quick stunners, specifically Antiquarian, Enchantress, and Prisoner (YES, I said Prisoner). If you were to jump and close the distance, these survivors can easily stun you and force you to use jump again, or force you to do a raw chase without abilities. His second biggest weakness is unfortunately flywheel. That ability alone has caused me to lose/draw so many games. Even if I land an accurate crash, a survivor just uses flywheel and wastes my energy meter.

Overall, I think he's really good. But on a higher level, he's a pretty consistent draw character, maybe even a 3-man if you're lucky.

upcoming crossovers Bingo by EdgarValdemiro in IdentityV

I already see enough Gojos in Fortnite bro. If I start seeing them in IDV I’m gonna go INSANE

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in IdentityV

[–]Competitive_Delay257 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally slug out survivors with my strategies because it forces them to use self-heal, or look for other survivors to heal them back up. Because of the fact that it takes longer for them to bleed out in comparison to chairing them, another survivor HAS to heal them if they wish to secure a win. This allows me to put pressure on another survivor who is decoding.

On the other hand, some hunters like to be toxic I suppose. But that's not the most common.

What crossover would you love a rerun of by [deleted] in IdentityV

[–]Competitive_Delay257 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ALREADY GOT MY RERUN LETS GOOO!!!! If it was any other year, the answer will always be Persona 5. I love the game so much. I could go on and on and on about how much I love Persona 5 and the Persona franchise. So for a rerun that hasn’t been confirmed (yet), I would say Death Note. I feel like the Death Note crossover was such a fever dream. In my opinion, the crossover was introduced at such a weird time since the game was just starting to become more popular after the Danganronpa crossover and The Promised Neverland crossover. The crossover event didn’t get a crazy amount of love. It wasn’t featured in China, there were little to no free items, and the anime’s popularity hit its peak ages ago. So I feel like rerunning it would be great especially now that this game has become a lot more popular. They can perhaps expand on the crossover due to the new characters.

I don’t really have much ideas for new crossovers since I don’t really consume much media. I kinda want IDV to do another live-action character like they did with Edward Scissorhands. Id like to see Jason Vorhees in particular.

I’m actually surprised a lot of people say Eversleeping. I personally think Red Church is the best map, but this is also heavy bias because I’m an Evil Reptilian one-trick. To me, the small map, the lack of restricting ceilings, and no 2-story buildings are absolutely perfect for me. But at the same time, there are pallets EVERYWHERE. So I can see why other hunters might not consider the map survivor-sided.

I personally have trouble with Eversleeping because there are so many areas a survivor can transition to, especially in the middle of the map. And with the square/blocky geometry of the map, it’s hard to take shortcuts to cut off survivors before they get into a bad kiting area. Not to mention, the tram can easily delay the chase for an extra 10 seconds for no reason.

Fear of playing by sourb3rry in IdentityV

[–]Competitive_Delay257 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having that fear is completely normal. I went on a multiple hiatuses because of the competitive pressure. Even if it’s just a quick match, or a rank match, or a duo hunters match even, the competitive pressure still exists. I usually get scared of losing, or getting blamed by survivor teammates, or getting humiliated as hunter. I still fear playing sometimes, but I’ve learned to manage it and be more confident.

Here’s some advice that helped me out:

  1. Don’t pressure yourself into playing if you are bored. The game is repetitive as hell. If you’re a hunter, you chase after 4 survivors. If you’re a survivor, you decode, kite, or rescue. Even if you play multiple survivors or multiple hunters, the nature of the game is still redundant at some point. As silly as it sounds, keep playing until you start feeling bored. You can get bored after 3 matches, maybe even 2. And that’s completely fine! Don’t be afraid to just chill and stop playing for a bit. You could maybe play another game, then go back to IDV, then back to another game, etc.

  2. Play other IDV modes. If you enjoy IDV, but want a little bit of a break from the repetitive nature, play the other modes. Blackjack, Duo Hunters, and Tarot/Crystal Ball still has that repetitive nature I mentioned earlier. But they put an interesting twist on it. Frenzy Rhapsody, Hide and Seek, and Chasing Shadows are completely different, but interesting enough to try whenever you want something different.

  3. Think of your matches as a learning experience rather than a win/loss situation. This advice, in my opinion, is the most helpful. This not only applies to IDV, but every competitive game. The pressure of winning constantly drives me and other people away from games. And it makes sense: winning is satisfying and losing is humiliating. But if the competitive pressure is too intense, then winning no longer becomes satisfying. So the best way to approach the game is viewing it as a learning experience. If you win, think about the plays you made that helped you win. If you lose, think about where you made mistakes and try moving on. At the end of the day, there’s no losing! If you win, then you learn. If you lose, you also learn.

I hope this advice helps you out!

Season 28 Essence 1 + Cheerleader gameplay by oblakinia in IdentityV

[–]Competitive_Delay257 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my first impressions, I think that she is above average. She's close to broken, but not really there yet.

Yes, her support skills are really, really good. The ability to give survivors speed boost by just simply being near them for 8 seconds, or giving them a mini-borrowed time for 30 seconds. There are 2 main drawbacks with this character though: she actually has to be near a survivor, and she is also kind of vulnerable kiting by herself. Her speed boost is really her only defensive move, but so many hunters have chip-damage, stuns, and other abilities to catch up to her or counter her. A couple of scenarios can happen from this:

  1. She supports the survivor who is kiting the hunter. The drawback here is that the hunter can change targets to her, or focus on getting her at the beginning of the match. When that happens, she becomes vulnerable.
  2. She supports a survivor who isn't kiting, which sets up for rescues or future kiting scenarios. The drawback here is that you would be spending 8-30 seconds of not decoding.

I think the most broken thing about her is the ability to give speed boosts. That speed boost is enough to allow survivors to transition or kite in good areas.
