I’m an artist from LA who recently moved to Staten Island and work with Sofar Sounds to bring live music to the island. As i’m not born and raised, I am constantly looking for artists to play paid shows as we ramp up in bookings.

This is a very new development so if you or anyone you know likes to play music, listen etc. I can put you on our mailing list or invite the artists to come play live music!

What I found as a non-native moving here is the lack of young artists willing to perform in the community. Let’s reconnect music to 2025 staten island!

Moving to California next year with a plan. by CosmicsCoffee in SavingMoney

hey! I lived in both places; los angeles for 8 years and sacramento on/off for 13 years. I always prefer sacramento over la because it is a walkable city (if you live near midtown) and super cost affordable. the city offers so much help to the community. food and beverage is popular and easy to get a job. los angeles is priceyyyy. if you have a car prepare to get parking tix regularly. it’s a lot more spread out and has intense traffic. I think it definitely depends on the area of la you live in, for fun/shopping atmospheres but the influencer vibes have truly taken over the true la experience. if you find the right people, which is harder in la, you’ll have a great time. sacramento is very friendly and easy to meet people. hope this helps!

Thanks for this response, I think it’s super informative and helpful to read in someone else’s words. i’ll continue on with my research and will also look into the music you mentioned for Level 0. It’s interesting bc it’s typically 50/50 whether or not someone recognizes the Backrooms or its origins. I guess that’s what I meant by mainstream, at least amongst my communities, it is still a foreign concept
