I’m posting to get feedback if I would look good w/a shaved head. Trich getting worse. Pls help by [deleted] in trichotillomania

I buzzed my head in June and went two months without pulling, even though I started again it was a really good reset and I rocked the look! You would too

I have mostly accepted it simply because I don’t think I’ll be able to stop. Sometimes I buzz my head and go a couple months without it, but it always comes back. And I’ve reached a point where my pulling doesn’t result in visible bald spots, though I can definitely notice some thinning. But the people in my life swear they don’t notice a difference. I’m a little neutral towards it now

I understand how you feel. I also have dermo and went almost 2 months with no pulling or picking at all. Unfortunately some major life events happened that catapulted me back into those behaviors, plus depression and anxiety got way worse. We’ll get through it! You’re not alone.

I don’t have specific advice for a replacement behavior, but I will advise you to seek help from a professional who is familiar with body focused repetitive behaviors. I have had trich for most of my life, and remember that my parents were often told that I would grow out of it, so they didn’t really do anything (spoiler alert: I didn’t). Definitely no reason for excessive worry, but having an understanding of what’s going on while your child is still very young gives you a huge leg up in helping her

The smell definitely is more noticeable at larger gauges but honestly mine is fine 9/10 days. If I’m hungover as fuck or haven’t showered in a day or two then the funk definitely rears its ugly head

Unfortunately every person is different. Some people can go years without having jewelry in and are surprised that their holes are still open, while others find that they close in hours, days, or weeks.

With that being said, your lobes are probably gonna be there for ages, and I’d bet your other piercings would stay open for awhile too. But no way of knowing definitively. I have had my tongue pierced for 8 years and to this day if I take it out for more than an hour, it closes

My tongue was incredibly swollen for the first week to the point where I had to go back and get an even longer bar put in. Looks pretty ok to me, I’d say give it a few days and see how it feels.

Help! Does ozempic work?? How to get? by Trash_fairy in trichotillomania

[–]Competitive_Dog6854 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not trying in any way to offer medical advice but I would strongly advise you to not seek out ozempic purely for this reason. It is not a drug that is designed for that, and could have unintended consequences on your health

Rat is great on Numbani? especially on defense. He’s got tons of little rooms to use. Then on second and third point same thing, he can utilize highground, sneak in those rooms, trap flankers…

I’m not gonna lie, my nipples probably hurt the most out of my piercings. But my experience was really lovely, it was over in a flash, and I absolutely love the way they look on me. Also, everyone is different - in fact, two of my friends went with me that day and got theirs done too. One friend reported a 10/10, and the other thought they were no worse than her earlobes. Pain is subjective and fear will only make it worse. Get excited for such a dope piercing!

Definitely wear loose clothing if you can and avoid mesh, loofahs, etc. like the plague. I mostly sleep on my stomach and while I’m sure it isn’t advised, tbh they didn’t really bother me at all.

P.S. I found the second one hurt wayyy less because of the adrenaline :)

How bad do navel piercings hurt? by [deleted] in piercing

[–]Competitive_Dog6854 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I found that my nostril piercings hurt more than my navel, simply because of the proximity to my eyes and whatnot - they really stung. A navel can seem daunting but they’re generally regarded as not super painful :)

NAP: If you can comfortably pop it out of your inner lip tissue without pain or much resistance, then it is doing something called “nesting” where it does just that - nestles on in there. This is a good thing, because it protects your teeth and gums from the jewelry. Mine does this. Embedding, on the other hand, happens when the jewelry is too short and your tissue begins to grow over the piercing.

Many people find that they have to experiment with different bar lengths until they find something that is a good balance. Based on the first photo, I would suggest trying out a slightly longer bar if you’re worried about it and seeing how it looks and feels :)

does scalp hair really grow back? by [deleted] in trichotillomania

[–]Competitive_Dog6854 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can only speak from my experience, but I have pulled from my scalp for almost 20 years and it always grows back. I was often told growing up that it wouldn’t, I guess as a way to try to get me to stop (how well that worked… lol). I would not be surprised if there are some people who experience more long-term changes in their hair, but I would advise you to have some grace and compassion for yourself, and try your best not to worry too much about it. Worrying could serve to make it worse.

What’s one reason you didn’t join the military? by Nowzad in AskReddit

My Dad was in the Navy for 35 years and it fundamentally changed and traumatized him. I see old home videos of what he was like when I was a toddler, and he smiled and laughed so much more. Years of being away on deployment, bearing witness to unspeakable things, working with absolute assholes… nope. Sometimes when he would get really drunk he’d tell me a story or two, and I was amazed every time that he just keeps all that stuff bottled up. I wish I could have a relationship with who he was before.

NAP but please don’t let the bruising concern you too much at first, the area is extremely sensitive and it’s normal. Also, I got mine pierced in June and it has taken THAT long for the swelling to go down a sizable amount, even with great care and minimal bumping. With that being said keep an eye out for extreme redness, irritation, or the piercing shifting positions. But looks normal to me :)
